Ocean Alliance Canada and ECO Canada are seeking Indigenous youth interested in exploring careers in oceans, fisheries, environmental stewardship, marine conservation, and related fields.

βœ… Up to $3,500 in wage funding per participant
βœ… Hands-on experience, mentorship, and career development
βœ… Placements must begin by September 28, 2026

We're looking to connect with:

Have an idea for a great tugboat name? SAAM Towage wants to hear from community members in Metlakatla and Lax Kw'alaams.

The new tug will look very similar to the β€œSST Tsimshian Warrior” pictured below.

All suggested names must begin with β€œSAAM” β€” for example, β€œSAAM Wolf.”

How to enter:

Each participant may submit up to three name suggestions. Each suggested name must begin with β€œSAAM.”

To ensure your entry is eligible, please include:

Your full name
Your phone number
Your email address
Your First Nation band membership: Metlakatla or Lax Kw’alaams

A brief explanation of each suggested name, including its meaning, cultural significance, or inspiration.
Please submit entries to [email protected] by Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Prize and selection:

A selection committee, including representatives from SAAM Towage Canada, CTE, and AltaGas, will select the winning name.

The person who submits the selected name will receive a $500 gift card. πŸŽ‰
