Ever heard of a town that welcomes you with a nine-foot UFO parked on its front lawn?
🛸 Meet Moonbeam, Ontario, a Northern Ontario gem on Highway 11 between Fauquier and Kapuskasing where the extraordinary is just part of everyday life. Legend says early settlers followed pillars of light spilling from the night sky into the creeks below and decided right then to build their home there. That story gave the town its name and its now-famous flying saucer monument, a beloved roadside icon that has been welcoming curious travellers since 1991.
But Moonbeam is more than an out-of-this-world photo op. This proudly francophone community of about 1,200 people is growing faster than anywhere else in Northern Ontario, thanks to 34 kilometres of stunning nature trails, easy access to Rémi Lake and a tight-knit community that has fully embraced its sense of wonder.
The alien mascot is not just a novelty. It is an extension of the wonder woven into everything the town offers.
This is rural Ontario at its most unexpected: a small town with a big imagination and an even bigger heart.
