T’was the night before muskie opener, when all through the pines,
Memories of monster esox all hung in crooked lines;

Those photos were hung, on the lodge walls with care,
With anxious anticipation, some hope to soon be there;

The anglers were all nestled in their cabins, and snug in their beds,
While visions of 51’s and 52’s danced in their heads;

With the dogs at my feet, and Levis on my hide,
I hope that the luck of 10,000 casts will be on their sides (but it only takes a couple here)
