Bill & I have enjoyed our time here in the Hazeltons’ and in particular, here at the ROOST. But there comes a time when we have to move onto the next chapter in our lives. It’s with mixed feelings that we announce this news, knowing how much we’ve enjoyed our time here and meeting new friends. The Hazeltons’ are truly a gem as there are so many good people here. The medical staff at the Wrinch Memorial Hospital (doctor’s clinic, dental clinic, and administration) have been so wonderful to us. It was great to have all of the businesses locally that we were able to source from as they have always gone out of their way to help out. A HUGE thank you to all our staff (Sharon, Cheryl, Pauline, and Deborah) for making our lives so much easier here. Sharon & Cheryl, without your help, we would have been lost these past several years so thank you for putting up with us for so long. We would also like to thank the residents of New Hazelton and the surrounding communities for honoring our parking situation. We never know when we are getting large units needing the space to park and so it is important that we keep the lot open for these guests. The very large majority of residents understand and support us and you deserve a BIG thank you. I know that you will continue to support the new owners. Lastly, but mostly, Bill & I want to wish all of you the best…the good people of the Hazeltons’ and area, and to all of our guests, new friends and family! I know that all of you will welcome and support the new owners of the ROOST, Sunny & Jay. Sunny is a very warm and friendly person, as well as extremely hard-working. They have many years experience in business management and also have extensive hotel management experience. Sunny is looking forward to meeting our guests and continuing with the service that you have come to expect and deserve. I have no doubt she will not only do this, but that Sunny will provide her own unique style of service with fresh eyes that will give her guests and even greater sense of home and comfort!

Did you know that the Hagwilget suspension bridge has existed in 3 different locations? The first bridge to span the Hagwilget Canyon was built in 1856 under the direction of Chief Charles of Hagwilget. The bridge provided a link between the Wet’suwet’en on the east side of the canyon and the Gitxsan to the west. The site of this original bridge lies 80 meters south of the current suspension bridge. Check out our in the weeks to come for more facts about this famous bridge!
