Debating between shooting in Log or Rec. 709?

Log footage preserves more dynamic range and tonal information, which grants much more flexibility in post production and provides more highlight and shadow retention. It is amazing for film, television, commercials, and any production looking for a high level of colour control.

Rec. 709 has less colour colour control in post, but is ready to use with little or no grading straight from the camera, meaning less time in post production. It is ideal for content creators with fast turnaround times, events, and run-and-gun shoots.

How did Sony go from one FX camera, to an industry staple cinema line?

It all started in 2019 with the FX9. A full-frame cinema camera designed for television, documentaries, and commercial productions that carried on the legacy of the FS7.

A year later came the FX6, which improved upon the size, weight and ergonomics of its predecessor. It quickly became the go-to camera for filmmakers who needed high-end performance without the size of a broadcast rig.
