Up until early June of this year, O’Brien Chelsea featured an 11-room, four-season short getaway boutique hotel experience. Unfortunately, the model was not financially sustainable, as high operating costs exceeded revenues.

However, the hotel has experienced a consistent and high demand for community events, charitable event venue requests, weddings, corporate meetings, and special events. As a result, we made the difficult, but necessary decision to re-focus our product offerings in a sustainable way that matches what the market is seeking from this beautiful four-year heritage restoration. Accordingly we have adjusted our offering to offer the entire property in all future reservations instead of individual room bookings. Our sister property at the Moulin Wakefield Mill Hotel & Spa remains a beautiful choice for your small hotel getaway.

We determined that June was an ideal time to make this adjustment as it allows us a needed period to complete vital landscaping and site improvements to be able to meet market expectations, and to do so with the ability to schedule work around pre-existing event bookings. Already the fruits of this excerise are can be seen – and we can’t wait to share the results of these efforts with public later in the summer. The property has been very well received by virtually all community, charitable foundations and groups, wedding planners, and special event/group requests such as family reunions, celebrations of life, community events, etc.

We are enhancing the site beauty through focused landscape improvements largely intended to provide guests and visitors with a critical non-vehicle, pedestrian/garden/focus that also provides the essential site compliment to an already exquisite heritage building restoration. The new landscape and site improvements seeks to take full advantage of an unparalleled entrance sequence, recently enhanced by the new road pavement, as well as the gathering space/rock walls which were started in October 2018.

Our goal is to create an unparalleled destination event experience transforming O’Brien into the most unique and sought after community, charitable event venue, wedding, corporate meeting space in the region.
