Moosehaven Resort on Hathaway Lake

Moosehaven Resort on Hathaway Lake Family-friendly resort, situated on Hathaway Lake in the South Cariboo area, British Columbia, Canada Swimmable lake stocked with Kokanee and Rainbow trout.

Child-friendly, campground with a fantastic pirate ship to play on. Kids with bikes are encouraged to visit- bring your helmet. We are a small family-run resort with 30 full-service campsites, that can accommodate 50amp motor homes with pull-thru sites. Free strong signal WIFI broadcast around the grounds. We have newer docks, boat rentals, paddle boards, pedal boats, kayaks, and canoes to rent. S

maller, quiet lake (5 km long) with plenty of birds and wildlife to keep your camera busy. Due to the wildlife, we are not dog friendly but do make exceptions for dogs that are quiet, older, and in your RV (on a case-by-case basis) Our regulars keep telling us they prefer NOT to camp with other people's dogs so we continue to keep this rule. We have 2 playgrounds- one with the pirate ship and another with a sandbox for smaller children. We encourage children to come and be kids! We ask everyone to drive slowly because you never know when you may encounter a pedal bike gang!

4 beauty Koks caught this morning. They are fatter that previous years, but more interesting is they aren't turning red yet. Their scales aren't coming off, but this appears to be a late year for the spawn to start. And here we are with space in the resort for the next few weeks. Need a fishing fix? Give us a call! Due to an increased awareness and consciousness of Air Quality, we have purchased an air quality monitor which uploads every 10 minutes onto the Purpleaire.com website. Our area, being on a plateau, often has much better air than valleys and other areas where smoke gathers. Over the last 10 years we have experienced many instances where people with reservations have called up to cancel because they fear the air quality in our area due to some random social media post or worst case scenario TV broadcast that does nothing to comfort those with breathing issues. We now have the science, on location, that will show you precisely what to expect when you arrive at Hathaway Lake. We sincerely hope that this will put to rest any concerns our customers, new or old, might have regarding the air quality in our area. If you call, and we tell you the water is great, the fishing is fantastic, and the air is clear, we will be able to back up at least one of those statements with science. You'll just have to trust us on the other 2. Click the link below, and it will take you directly to the Interlakes area and our sensor reading

Hi all, we had a request for an update on our smoke situation, there isn't any!! We have been extremely busy with people trying to finally enjoy their summer. Yay! We are open until October 15th and Autumn here is GORGEOUS! Clinton residents are being allowed back into their community but it wont be great news for everyone, sadly. Highway 97 is open through there (as of noon today) but be prepared for possible delays. Our thoughts are with you as you navigate the changes that your community has gone through. M

Great news for areas south of us. Lower temperatures, rain and the hard work of the Wildfire crews are making for great improvements in the Green Lake areas south of Highway 24.

As of yesterday, August 8th, 2026, the Province of BC is under a State of Emergency. What does this mean for the wildfire situation? It means BC can restrict travel to certain areas (Summerland area), it can Comandeer accomodations for evacuees, access funds easier, and call in military for assistance.(as well as other perks)

What does this mean for you, if you have a reservation with us... ? Nothing as of now. We have minimal smoke, no fires threatening us and no orders or alerts. What you CAN expect is that if there is threat to your safety, we will let you know, as we did in 2021. Money does not take priority over peoples lives.

In 2021 we calmly asked everyone to vacate the Resort due to a wildfire near Deka Lake (beside the main road to here). We weren't under an order but did what we needed to, to ensure you and our neighbours would be safe IF ordered to evacuate. Russ and I then called people that were supposed to be here and cancelled their reservations. We sat here empty until it was safe to not be. We do not receive any Provincial assistance when we do this.

Although we are an ESS space, we do not get alot of evacuees due to the lack of services near us. We are usually a short term safe haven until a hotel/motel becomes available. There are roads open to get here and there is no order to stay out of the Cariboo. Trust me when I say, we would not ask you to break any laws to come here and we will NEVER put your safety in peril.

I see many social media posts telling people to stay off the highways, stay away for evacuees and even to stay out of BC! This is extremely alarmist and has little basis in fact. Stay away from the roads that are closed, stay away from areas that water bombers are trying to get water from, do NOT be a hinderance in places fighting the fires but DO continue to visit BC and the safe areas because tourism depends on it and so do many small businesses. There are no pay outs to keep us up and running.

Although traveling through smokey areas can be stressful, the reward will be that you may end up in a beautiful part of BC, with less smoke, and you will be able to enjoy making summer memories.

Premier David Eby has issued the following statement on the declaration of a state of provincial emergency in B.C.:

08/08/2026

Oh what a beautiful morning but what a devastating night. Our thoughts are with Summerland, too many towns in the Okanagan and my chosen town of Merritt. Too many people are spending sleepless nights, with the fires too close. I pray that the weather cools, the winds blow back on the fires and the fire fighters stay safe. Do not get me started on the safety of the animals... We all know I am a sucker for a furry/feathered face! We are a place of peace during this storm but have sat where many of you are. Stay Strong BC.

It is a smokey morning. Not our usual gorgeous day. You have to take the good with the bad, as they say. At least it isn't smoking hot. ;) Happy Thursday. We have had some cancellations, so feel free to check our availability calendar www.moosehavenresort.com/availability-calendar/ We would love to see you at the lake. :)
