This weekend, our tables are full, our porch swings are swaying, and our hearts are grateful.

As we wind down our third season here in Parrsboro, we're pausing to give thanks for the people who make this inn what it is. To every guest who has walked through our doors, lingered over breakfast, relaxed on our veranda, gathered around the bonfire, or headed down to the beach to watch the mighty Fundy tides roll in and out — thank you. You've filled this place with laughter, stories, and connection.

As we begin to wind down our third season at Gillespie House Inn, our hearts are full. Thank you to every guest, partner, and friend who walked through our doors, gathered on our veranda, and helped make this season one to remember.

But we're not slowing down. We're dreaming.

Today we pause. We remember. We listen.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, all of us at Gillespie House Inn honour the children who never came home from residential schools, the Survivors who carry their stories, and the families and communities who still feel the weight of that loss.

Here in Parrsboro, we live and welcome guests on Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people. The shores, the tides, and the red cliffs we love so dearly were cared for by the Mi'kmaq long before our doors ever opened, and we are grateful to share in this land under the Peace and Friendship Treaties.

Reconciliation isn't a single day. It's a daily practice of learning the truth, listening with an open heart, and choosing to do better, together.

Today we wear orange. We invite you to join us: take a quiet moment, read a Survivor's story, learn about the Mi'kmaw history of the place you call home, or support Indigenous-led organizations and businesses.

Every child matters. Every story matters. Every step toward healing matters.
