Most cottage resorts and campgrounds in Ontario close for winter—and in doing so, they miss what many would argue is the most beautiful time of year. And this seasonal shut down doesn’t make the price cheaper, it just means you get less to enjoy.
Winter is when the forest goes quiet.
When the lake freezes and the stars feel closer.
When snow softens the landscape and the world slows down in a way summer never allows.
It’s crackling fires and crisp air. Long walks with no one else around. Cozy nights inside, and that deep, rare stillness that makes you feel like you can finally breathe.
At Whitestone Woods, winter isn’t something to “get through.” It’s part of the experience.
Here’s the transparent piece: from January 15 to March 15, water is temporarily shut off to individual units only, as required by a province-wide mandate during extreme cold.
But that does not mean your unit is closed—or that you can’t stay comfortably. Your unit remains warm, winterized, and fully accessible, and we intentionally make winter stays easy by pairing that with heated shared communal facilities you can use throughout the shutoff period—including washrooms—open 365 days a year, just steps from your door.
So while others lock their gates and wait for summer, Whitestone Woods stays open—because the quiet seasons are where the magic is: the snow, the stars, the silence, and the kind of cozy you only get when nature feels like it’s yours.
