I was convinced there had to be somewhere better.

Better than Summerland. Better than the Okanagan. Better than the place my grandpa grew up, my dad grew up, and I grew up.

So I left.

I travelled through Southeast Asia and Australia, lived in the UK, travelled Europe, and found beautiful places, beautiful people and beautiful food.

And I’m so glad I did.

Because sometimes you have to leave home to really see it.

Turns out, we have something pretty special here.

I grew up here. I was four when my parents bought this hotel. By seven, I was filling water glasses at weddings and clearing tables.

By nine or ten, they’d pull my brother and me out of school to scrape stickers off the windows and haul furniture into rooms before check-in.

But it wasn’t all work. We spent our summers in that pool, climbing the trees, running wild across the property.

Fun. Chaotic. Home.
