The lake ice is groaning. In a few days the ice will be safe again for ice fishing and we will be putting out the hut.

Today I sawed a 28 inch diameter pine log and got enough 1 x 14 boards to case in the garage and work shop doors. Great to have a 162 horse power Nissan Industrial power house driving the blade.

Yesterday a classmate from 41 years ago dropped in. She tracked me down using the map on our website. She had read my first book Ten Bridges Seven Churches No Stop Light and wanted me to sign it. What a rush!! She said she had read it twice and was reading it again and cried several times. Success can be measured in many ways. It does not get any better when someone likes the work you do. Lets set this straight, when I saw lumber no one cries.

Sawmill was in trouble today and the good folks at Woodmizer came to the rescue again. On line help for the machine no matter who owns it, forever. They sell parts and supplies but imagine trying to compete with a company that offers that kind of service. Under the carriage, change adjustments cleaning bearings and presto the machine is working like new. Sawing 1 x 12 pine boards, 2 x 10 and 2 x 6 pine. Rafters and timbers for the roof over the outdoor furnace and roof over the Woodmizer.

Yesterday putting the shingles on the wood shed it snowed, rained, and we also had a shower of hail. Typical April weather in the country. Low slope so no need to stop and get off a slippery roof. Dry wood next winter, yahoo!!

Today we had several showers of snow. Nothing stayed on the ground but the may flowers ducked and kept open. Wild flowers, fidel heads and wild leaks will soon be popping up to pick. Wild leak soup, side order of fidel heads with butter, tea biscuits and maple syrup. How good does it get?
