Our tree-lined driveway has transformed into the most beautiful shades of gold, orange, and red, welcoming us with a little more colour each day.

And while we absolutely love the excitement of summer, there’s so much to love about this quieter time of year, too.

Crisp morning air, a warm cup of coffee on the deck, peaceful walks beneath the changing leaves, and cozy evenings tucked away in your cottage. The river is just as beautiful, the sunsets are just as lovely, and the slower pace gives you a little more time to enjoy it all.

Whether you visit us in the warmth of summer or the golden days of fall, we hope this little place by the river always feels like somewhere you can slow down, feel at home, and make memories worth keeping. 🍁

Fall is looking beautiful here at Black River Cottages!

Our Robin ( #3) and Blue Jay ( #4) Cottages are tucked side by side, surrounded by the beautiful trees that are slowly turning shades of gold, orange, and red.

These two adjoining cottages are a lovely option for families or friends travelling together. You can enjoy your own private cottage while still being just a few steps away from each other.

We love watching the seasons change here along the Black River. The cooler mornings, colourful trees, peaceful afternoons, and evenings spent around the campfire make this such a special time of year.

And with the summer crowds behind us, there’s something lovely about the slower pace of fall in Prince Edward County. 🍁

There’s a little bit of magic everywhere at Black River. 🤎🍂

On a beautiful fall afternoon, these two cousins found a sunny spot by the river and spent their time learning how to juggle together.

It’s moments like this that make us stop and appreciate this place all over again. Watching children explore, learn, play and simply enjoy being outside.

Black River has a way of turning the simplest moments into something beautiful. And we feel incredibly grateful to get to watch so many of them unfold right here. 🤎

A little more time here. 🍂

October is our last full month before Black River Cottages settles in for the winter, and it might just be one of the loveliest times to visit.

The County gets quieter. The leaves turn. Mornings are crisp, evenings are made for getting cozy, and the river has a peacefulness that feels completely different from summer.

It’s September again. 🤍

And honestly, it’s such a beautiful time to be at Black River Cottages

Warm days by the water, cooler evenings around the fire, quieter days in the County, and just a little more room to slow down and enjoy it all.

The wineries, farm stands and little towns are still waiting to be explored, the water is still calling, and there’s something really lovely about coming back to your cottage at the end of the day when the evenings start to feel a little cozier.

September here is pretty special.

I sometimes wonder if our guests know how much we genuinely love seeing them enjoy this place.

Seeing someone find their favourite chair by the water. Hearing laughter drifting across the property. Watching the kids run around like they’ve known the place forever. Seeing families slow down, reconnect and simply enjoy being together.

And then there are the familiar faces, the families who come back year after year, the kids we get to watch grow, and the guests who arrive for the first time and tell us before they’ve even left that they want to come back. That part will never get old.

Black River is our home, and sharing this little piece of it with all of you is something we’re incredibly grateful to be able to do.

We hope when you’re here, even if it’s only for a few days, it feels a little bit like yours too. 💙

The kind of summer afternoon I wish I could bottle up and keep forever. ❤️

Two little cousins wandering along the waterfront, completely lost in their own adventure — looking for worms, investigating everything they find, and stopping every few steps because something new has caught their attention.

No destination and nowhere they need to be.

Just childhood exactly as it should be — curious, messy, unhurried and spent outside with someone you love.

I hope they always remember summers like this — days spent outside, exploring freely, getting dirty, and finding adventure in the most ordinary places.

Sometimes the best childhood moments don’t need batteries, screens, or a plan. Just a quiet shoreline, a pocket full of stones, and all the time in the world.

That’s the kind of summer we hope families take home from Black River Cottages.

🦉✨ A morning we’ll never forget.

What started as a simple walk with my daughters turned into one of those magical moments nature gives you when you least expect it. Tucked quietly among the trees, we spotted this beautiful family of owls watching the world wake up.

It’s moments like these that remind us why we love calling Black River home. Every season brings new surprises, and sharing them with our children makes them even more special.

If you slow down, keep your eyes open, and listen to the sounds around you, you never know what incredible wildlife you might discover during your stay.

It’s one more reason we never get tired of calling Black River home. 💙

This beautiful swan family has made our waterfront their home for a little while, quietly raising their cygnets just steps from the cottages.

Watching them glide across the water reminds us that the most meaningful moments are rarely the ones we plan, they’re the ones that simply unfold when we slow down enough to notice.

It’s moments like these that make this little corner of Prince Edward County feel so special.
