BE RIGHT IN THE HEART OF THE COUNTY WHILE BEING SURROUNDED BY BEAUTIFUL NATURE! I bought my century home in 2003 and have never looked back! The home, is the last remaining building of the Reid Bros Barrel Factory (c. 1860) As legend goes, the house even served as a boarding house back in the day for Mohawks who worked on the canning ships in the Harbour. Our harbour used to be the seat of ship building and the canning industry...lots of history here! In the 50s, my home became a variety store for locals. Now it's renovated and serves as a monthly concert space for acoustic jazz, my home-away-from-home and a vacation rental. If you're lucky, you'll be here when we have one of our famous house concerts! Since I'm a touring musician, I'm not always here, but when I'm not, I'll leave you in the capable hands of my staff. Your room is large and comfortable with a private washroom. We're on a main artery and the Harbour area is bustle-y. (So if you're looking to be isolated and quiet, choose one of the other great accommodations in the County.) Be in the middle of the action and a short pleasant drive from the beach. Walk 2 minutes to the shops and restaurants while being 10 minutes away from golden sand beaches. There are picnic benches right on the harbour for you to enjoy the breeze and the stars and maybe talk to visitors who are harbouring their boats. The best breakfast in town is across the street--cheap and cheerful. The home fries with green onions and local mushrooms are to die for! Behind the house is a park and just a 5-minute walk away is a 400-acre conservation area with lovely forested walks. Our good friends up on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory are just a 20-minute drive north.
