After three weeks of construction, Chims Cabins is officially OPEN! 🙌🏽

We’re excited to welcome guests back with brand-new drainage and fresh asphalt throughout the property!

The only thing left on our to-do list is getting the parking lines painted next week, and then the project is complete!

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY OF PAVING AT CHIMS CABINS! 🙌🏽

We’re almost at the finish line, and everything is looking great! Flaggers are still directing traffic on Pacific Rim Hwy

Today the Hummingbird Cabin is getting its own paved parking spot AND a new sidewalk — something we didn’t have before. 🏡

The new sidewalk will make it so much easier for guests to wheel their suitcases right up to the cabin instead of carrying them across the previous surface. 🧳🙌🏽 It’s one of those little improvements that will make a big difference for our guests.

🏡 Chims Cabins will officially reopen and welcome guests this Friday, October 9!

A huge thank you to Bowerman Construction, Amrize and McGill Engineering for all the work that has gone into getting us here. 👏🏽

🚧 Lots going on at Chims Cabins right now! 🙌🏽

Amrize is repaving Chims Cabins and doing a fantastic job. These guys are professionals! 👏🏽

We’ll be reopening Friday, October 9, with fresh asphalt going right to every cabin! We also added additional paving to the Hummingbird and Butterfly Cabins beyond where the previous pavement ended.

It’s going to be great seeing the entire property finished! 🏡

🚧 And remember — please obey the flaggers on Pacific Rim Highway. They’re there to keep the crews, drivers and everyone travelling through the area safe.

Today Bowerman Construction and Amrize are both on site. Getting everything prepped, ready for paving this week so we can reopen Fri Oct 9.

This project has meant correcting the drainage, shaping and asphalt work that was previously completed.

Between that and the additional work (including EV charger infrastructure ⚡️🚗), along with Mother Nature not always cooperating 🌧️, our reopening has moved by a few days.

A HUGE shout-out to Bowerman Construction and Amrize. This is our first time working with both companies, and we couldn’t be happier. 🙌🏽

Bowerman has been amazing throughout this project — hard working crew, finding solutions and helping us get ready so the crews at Amrize can get us across the finish line with our new asphalt

🚧 When paving is underway, flaggers will be on site safely directing traffic along Pacific Rim Highway. Please slow down and watch for the crews working.

🚧 We know we haven’t posted in a while… but there are some BIG things happening at Chims Cabins! 🚧

If you’ve driven past lately, you may have noticed that things look a little different around here. 👀

The paving installed approximately 4–5 years ago by Alberni Paving has now been removed, allowing Bowerman Construction to re-shape the property and install new drainage before Amrize from Nanaimo comes in to repave paradise! 🙌🏽

We have to give a special shout-out to Bowerman Construction — they have been amazing to work with throughout this project. 👏🏽One of the best contractors we have ever worked with.

Our signs originally said we would be closed until October 2, but while everything is already torn apart, we decided to take the opportunity to complete some additional work — including putting infrastructure in place for future EV chargers. ⚡️🚗

If we’re doing it, we want to do it right!

🏡 Chims Cabins will reopen October 6!

There’s a LOT happening around here, and we’re excited to see everything come together. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and show you the finished property! ❤️

We call them our “Forest Puppies.” 🦌

Just one of the beautiful wildlife visitors you might see while staying at Chims Cabins. We’re lucky to have deer regularly wander through the property and surrounding forest. 🌲❤️

And there’s a little story behind our name too!

čims means “bear” in the local Indigenous Nuu-chah-nulth language. We added the “h” to create Chims, making it easier for visitors to pronounce.
