Farewell to Another Season of Camping! 😭

As the leaves change colours and the days grow shorter, we're reminded that all good things must come to an end. Our seasonal camping adventure for this year will officially end on October 21st at 4pm. 📆

But don't worry, there is still lots of time to make memories before the season is done! 🌟 Here's some ideas of things to do over next next couple of weeks:

📌 Campfire Storytelling: Share your favourite campfire tales around the fire. Don't forget the marshmallows!

📌 Fall Foliage Hike: Head out for a nice walk or hike to soak in the breathtaking fall colours - they won't last long. Have littles you're taking along? Create a hand drawn scavenger hunt before you leave and we promise you won't hear "are we almost done?" from anyone!

📌 Potluck Dinner: Gather with your neighbouring friends for a meal (or two) because really, there's nothing better than eating good food with good people!

📌 Stargazing: Enjoy the crisp autumn nights with some stargazing and perhaps catch a falling star.

📌 Campsite Cleanup: Do those last final steps to winterize your trailer and clean up your outdoor area. This always makes things much easier come spring.

Closing up a seasonal trailer properly is essential to protect it from the elements and ensure it's ready for the next season. Here are some helpful tips to close-up your trailer this year. Just remember, this is not a complete list, so make sure you do your research if you’re planning on closing your trailer yourself!

CLEAN & ORGANIZE:
Remove all personal items, food, and perishables from the trailer. Clean the interior thoroughly, including all surfaces, appliances, and the bathroom.

EMPTY & CLEAN TANKS:
Empty all water tanks. Flush and clean the holding tanks with an appropriate RV tank cleaner.
Add RV antifreeze to the black and gray water tanks to prevent freezing and odors, where necessary.

DRAIN WATERLINES:
Open all faucets and drain valves to remove water from the plumbing system. Use compressed air to blow out any remaining water from the lines, including the water heater, using an RV blowout plug. Add RV antifreeze to all drains, traps, and toilet bowls.

DISCONNECT UTILITIES:
Disconnect and properly store the electrical, water, and sewer connections. Turn off and disconnect the propane supply.

PROTECT THE EXTERIOR:
Clean the exterior of the trailer to remove dirt and debris. Cover any vents, including the refrigerator and furnace vents, to prevent pests from entering.

CLOSE WINDOWS & VENTS:
Close and secure all windows, roof vents, and doors. Consider installing vent covers to allow for ventilation while keeping rain and pests out.

INSPECT SEALS & ROOF:
Check all seals and seams for signs of wear or damage. Repair any cracks or gaps with appropriate sealant. Inspect the roof for damage and repair as needed.

RODENT & PEST CONTROL:
Place rodent and pest repellents inside the trailer. Seal any potential entry points, such as gaps around pipes and cables. Chlorine pucks work great at keeping mice away!

DOCUMENT & LOCK UP:
Take photos of the closed-up trailer for documentation and insurance purposes. Lock all doors and storage compartments securely.

As the days grow shorter and a gentle chill fills the air, we're excited to welcome the beauty of fall! The season of vibrant leaves, cozy sweaters and pumpkin-spiced everything is here!

There's something undeniably cozy about fall. It's the time when we wrap up in warm blankets, enjoy steaming mugs of your favourite hot beverages, and gather around crackling bonfires with friends and family.

As the final months of the year approach, we can all pause and reflect on the year thus far and be thankful for the experiences we've had, and the people we've shared them with. Let's embrace the spirit of gratitude and spread warmth and positivity.

While our kids get ready to return to school, we often find ourselves navigating the stress of going back to work after the summer break. The transition from leisurely days to the demands of the workplace can be challenging while balancing work responsibilities with family commitments. However, the coming seasons are ones that bring fun activities, joy and happiness!

For students, the return to school can be a time of excitement and anticipation. It's a chance to reunite with friends, share stories of summer adventures, and embark on new educational journeys.

Welcome to Otter's Edge Estates in Port Burwell, Ontario.

This beautiful park has two separate areas allowing for seasonal campers on one side and a mobile home community for adults year round.

Our mobile home community is great for retired living with a community feel in the country year round.

Our campground has 82 fully serviced sites located along the Big Otter Creek, which runs into Lake Erie and is known for great fishing and beautiful wildlife. Our seasonal park is open from May through October.

Located just 5 minutes from the Port Burwell beaches, 2 hours from Toronto and 1 hour from London, making this the perfect spot for a quiet getaway or a family fun vacation.
