Spring is here, the construction season is upon us, and the first job of the year decides to throw us a curve ball!
A simple concrete step removal to make way for a new hot tub went from a 1hr job to a 4 hour job once we realized these stairs were anything but hollow.
I’ve had customers tell me they had guys walk away because the task became too big to handle. With a hydro construction background, walking away has never been an option available to us and with over 40 years combined experience in hydro construction and almost 60 years combined working with heavy equipment, we will always find a solution! Luckily NTER had some muscle available at the yard. Once we brought the 3.5 ton in, this 4600lb set of stairs popped right out with a little assistance of course. But for 2 operators that have been involved with more than their fair share of tandem crane lifts picking hydro towers, we were able install secure anchoring, and correct rigging to lift this heavy load up under the roof and next to the house where any miscalculation could’ve easily resulted in major structural damage to the house, and most importantly we know how to communicate with eachother. Communication is key to the success of any project. It doesn’t matter how big and fancy the equipment is, if the guys doing the job don’t know how to communicate, the end result is more often than not… a failure.
With a couple bags of 3/4” clear and a light compaction, this hot tub will be ready to slide on in just in time for the scheduled Saturday afternoon delivery!
