🦞 From trap to table, every lobster has a journey.

For many visitors to Cape Breton, enjoying fresh Atlantic lobster is a highlight of the trip. Behind every lobster dinner are early mornings, skilled fishers, and generations of knowledge on the water.

This reel offers a small glimpse into life on one of Cape Breton’s working wharves local to Coastal View Cape Breton and the tradition that helps bring fresh Atlantic lobster to our tables.

Looking for fresh lobster?
🦞 Stop by Murphys Pond Harbour, where you’ll often find fishers returning with the day’s catch. Fishing seasons vary: lobster to crab to tuna and more! Stop and ‘sea’ the catch of the day or just enjoy the beautiful scenery!

🦞 You can purchase fresh lobster and seafood from Ceilidh Fishermen Co-Op (158 Main St., Port Hood). The co-op is locally owned and supplied by Cape Breton West fishers. Better yet — ask them to cook your 🦞 lobster for you and pick it up fresh and ready to eat - just get the 🧈 butter ready 🦞

One of our favourite ways to explore Cape Breton is simply getting in the car and following the coastline.

From the colourful fishing wharfs of Port Hood to the neighbouring communities of Judique and Mabou, every stop offers a different view, a different story, and a reminder of why we love this part of the island so much. 🌊⚓

When your sunset video suddenly turns into a fishing documentary. 🌅🎣😂

We set out to capture the sunset at the wharf and somehow ended up documenting the catch of the evening instead.

The fish hit so hard that it actually broke the rod… but the line held, the fish stayed on, and the catch was landed.

Just another unforgettable evening in Nova Scotia—where you never know what you’re going to see.
