Please be advised that the Brereton Lake South Pumphouse will be closed for maintenance on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. For those that require potable water, they can go to the Big Whiteshell South Shore or Betula Lake ball diamond locations. Right now, the threat of Forest Fires in Manitoba is real. There is a fire currently being fought in Toniata. While the Fire designation in the Whiteshell is on 'High', many of us feel that it should be at 'Extreme'. We did not get enough snow this winter to mitigate the heat that we are currently experiencing, and there doesn't seem to much rain forecasted in the near future. PLEASE help keep our Parks and People safe by doing what you can to keep fires from starting:

1.) If you smoke, don't throw cigarette & cigar butts or tap your ashes on the ground - use an ashtray, a coffee can with water, or 'field strip' your smokables. The last fire in Falcon/West Hawk area is believed to have been started by someone throwing their cigarette butt out the window as they were driving.

2.) **EDITED : NO CAMPFIRES PERMITTED!!

It is now a rule that you may not have a campfire from 8:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night. When you do have a campfire, dump water on the ashes at the end of the night, even if you think the fire is completely dead. There could be embers you don't see smoldering.

3.) Don't drive any sort of vehicle off of built up roads - sparks can be created otherwise.

4.) Keep an eye on your BBQ for obvious reasons.

5.) There is no backcountry camping or hiking permitted in the Whiteshell right now.

PLEASE Be overly cautious this spring, it would really put a damper on our collective Springtime if we couldn't escape to the lake. Add to that the amount of wildlife that would be danger, and it just makes sense for us all to make an effort.

We are starting to accept applications for summer staff. We are looking for people who can clean cabins, help with the store, some odd jobs like mowing, etc. No experience necessary, but must love being at the lake, be over 18, and have their own means of transportation (to get to and from work if they don't live on Big Whiteshell).
