Untouched. Untamed. Yesterday’s ride into camp reminded me why this country is worth protecting.

Two weeks left in the season, and what a run it's been.

Camp life, new friendships, long days and a lot of miles. Through the tuckamore, across the bogs and barrens, in sunshine, fog and rain, our hunters earned every bit of it. Sore legs, wet boots and heavy packs on the way out, but that's hunting.

Behind every photo are the good parts too: hot meals around the big table, laughs and long chats back at camp, and a lot of hard work from guides and hunters alike. Harvest of moose, caribou and bear and several hunters harvesting two big game animals in one day and there are a few still in pursuit.

Thank you to every hunter and guide so far. More hunters, more stories, and more miles still to come.

What a week in the country with Sou'Wester Outfitting!

Our hunters have been making new friends, building memories, and soaking in the kind of wilderness experience you can only find here in Western Newfoundland. Days in the backcountry like this one are what it's all about.

This beautiful bull is one of the blessings that come when the hard work pays off. Long days, early mornings, and a lot of glassing all came together here. I had the privilege of this harvest with Mr. Bob Kinder. We Congratulations, Bob, on a tremendous moose. It was an honour to share this hunt with you!

Of course, hunting is hunting. Not every day ends like this one, and that's what makes days like this one so special.

Many thanks to all of our guides for the hard work last week, and to this week's crew, wishing you great success! Grateful for another great week in God's country. 🙏

Tough weather day, but a great day in the country! Lots of moose moving in camp — several bulls spotted and passed on, with three great calling encounters, bulls called in as close as 20 and 50 yards.

Week One is underway at Sou'Wester Outfitting!** 🚁🏔️

Our first group of hunters is officially in camp after a smooth round of flights out to the outback. There's nothing quite like watching that helicopter lift off the pad and knowing another team is headed deep into some of the most pristine wilderness Newfoundland and Labrador has to offer.

This week is all about the hunt — but it's just as much about the memories being made along the way. New friendships forming around camp, stories being swapped, and that first look at the country that makes this place so special.

To every hunter who trusted us with your trip this season — thank you for choosing Sou'Wester Outfitting. We don't take that lightly. Our whole team is out there right now working to make sure you go home with more than just a story about the one that got away.

Congratulations to our hunter Mr. Joe Shutler — one big game animal down on his Grand Slam hunt with this beautiful 42-point Woodland Caribou! Taken on the first day of the 2026 season, at our Benabbey camp — and on top of it all, today is Mr. Shutler’s 72nd birthday. Happy Birthday!

Great first hunt of the season for guide Chris Pye, now part of the Sou’Wester team, and a big thanks to our whole camp crew. Looking forward to a great season — what a way to kick it off!
