Well Friends, the last truck & trailer has left the yard today & with the exception of a small rental next weekend, that’s a wrap on 7 years & 8 wedding seasons. This Thanksgiving I am incredibly grateful for all of you. From the ones who simply supported with their likes, comments & encouraging messages, to those who sent their friends & clients my way, to those who allowed me the privilege of being part of their biggest events & memories. This past season was filled with the kind of beautiful & inspiring events that make a decision like this really hard😅

There are two questions I keep getting so I may as well address them right here. The first being if this is a covid related closure. The answer is yes, but not in the sense you might think. I’m the kind of person who is always busy with something or other. What covid showed me was that a slow down in my life is needed. That is something I find really difficult. A busy weekend can mean I have pick ups & returns from Thursday to Monday. I would love to have a summer where I can be a bit more flexible & available to adventure with my family.

The second question is if I am selling all my furniture. While at first I had thought I would part with most of it, I’ve decided that would be foolish. A collection like this does not happen overnight. It has become increasingly difficult to find good pieces around here. Some, if not most of these pieces, I know I will never find again. I have prided myself on the different styles & colors I have been able to collect & offer. So no, I will be hanging onto a large portion for myself. This also allows me a foot in the door should I decide to start up again in some capacity in the future.

To be honest, I’m not sure if this is good bye for good or just for now. That said, if you have a project you think may interest me-think movie set, multiple lounges, intimate ceremony with all upholstered seating-I just may be swayed. For now though, thank you for hanging out with me in this corner of Instagram & allowing me to share my love of beautiful furniture with you. ~Rachel

Every year without fail, I have my busiest weekend in September. Do any other vendors out there find this as well? This year that falls on this weekend. I am also setting a record for the weekend with the highest volume in 8 wedding seasons. This place is going to be nearly empty. Even my living room sofa will be joining in on the action😂 And the cherry on top-my dreams of a wedding using all upholstered seating for the ceremony will be coming true🤗🍒Those are some lucky guests. Let’s get this party started, shall we?!!!

It seemed fitting that this sweet gal should occupy her own square here for ! If you’ve been here for a consult or pick up, there’s a 99% chance Torie has greeted you. She’s kept me company on many a late night, getting orders ready. Everyone that comes by falls in love with her & one gentleman this summer even asked if I would ever seriously consider giving her to his family. This past spring marked 10 years ago that I found her as a pup, dropped off in a ditch out in the country, on a cold rainy day. With Sabrina from Pawparazzi Pet Photography] being a repeat client of mine, we made a mini photo shoot happen to celebrate 10 years “found”.🥳

Side note: Torie is so well mannered in my shop that I tried for two days to get her to climb up on a sofa so we could get a regal photo of her, but she would not!!

As it turns out, my furniture can wear a pair of heels much better than I can😂

A huge thank you to everyone that has been keeping me hopping. The last few weeks have been extremely busy as restrictions have been lifting & there has been lots of last minute activity around here. My calendar is nearly full, with some dates fully booked out. So if you were thinking of adding a seating area to your wedding or other event, please don’t wait too long! Before starting this business I would peruse Pinterest, with its pictures of backyard soirées, twinkle lights strung in trees & whiskey barrels full of food & I wanted to be part of that. To create magic✨When the idea of renting out vintage furniture came to me, I had no idea if this would sink or swim. All I knew was that there was nothing else like it in Manitoba & if someone else started a vintage furniture rental company I would really kick myself for not having tried. So I sat on the idea for at least a year, finally gathered up all my courage & with the help of my sister in law, opened The Vintage Nest in 2014 in a humble, unheated, uninsulated log cabin in our backyard. And sure enough! Not only did people make the drive out from Winnipeg, some came from much further away yet. I’ve since moved into a large shop with heat & with that was able to expand my inventory. This is still the only business of its kind to rent vintage furniture on this scale in Manitoba today. I’m proud of the business that I have created, the collection of furniture I have curated & the events & collaborations I’ve been a part of. This year will mark my 8th wedding season & for personal reasons have decided that it will be my last for the time being. I have a young family & am looking forward to creating some space in our lives so that we can welcome new adventures.

So what does this mean going forward? Well, if you are getting married come hell or high water in 2021 & want to add some vintage flair, shoot me an email & let’s create some magic! Going forward I will no longer be taking 2022 bookings or accommodating 2022 postponements. I will still be posting on Instagram from time to time throughout this year. And if you have any ideas of what else a girl can use a 3 car heated shop for, let me know! Studio space? More chickens?😂

P.S. To answer the inevitable question I keep getting, I will be hanging onto a number of pieces for myself & selling those that no longer speak to me. Please no emails or messages in regards to buying pieces from me. Thx✌️
