Michael joins us with over 30 years of experience at as new numerous properties, including the Villa Aerie, Sooke Harbour House, Le Cordon Bleu and Stonehouse Inn here on Salt Spring.

Many of you will fondly remember Michael from his sixteen years (1996-2011) in Hastings House dining rooms. He returns to us after a remarkable journey into the heart of Italy, where he completed his PhD and published his 2020 book on historic 16th-century Italian villas and wineries.

Michael’s return brings a personally curated wine program that celebrates our incredible British Columbia terroir, while introducing a dialogue with fine Italian and French labels.

Michael will be working closely with Executive Chef Marcel Kauer to take our dining experience to new heights.
