In addition, our all but two of our cabins have showers and hot and cold running water. Beginning in late July, the loons start flocking up on big lakes like Savant. Some days weā€™ll see hundreds of them together at one time, spread across the water and calling back and forth.
Savantā€™s fishing speaks for itself, but moments like this one are the other reason people come back, the kind of thing you only get on a 90,000 acre wilderness lake in Northwestern Ontario.

I took a drive to the north of us on Hwy 599 to where the fire passed through. It burned a 4.5 mile wide swath north to south. The fire appeared to be mostly out with only a few smoldering spots. Fire crews are doing some mop up off of the highway. We are very thankful for all the rain we received this week.

After some on and off rain showers this morning, the sun is poking through the clouds. This is the 4th smoke free day in a row. We are going to be back open with guests beginning to arrive as early as tomorrow.

If your trip to a different resort is affected by the fires or if the resort you had reservations at was damaged, we would be happy to host you. We have openings for the week of July 25th and then beginning on August 15th through much of the remainder of the season.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost everything to the forest fires, and the firefighters and first responders in harmā€™s way.

Your prayers and rain dances are working. We had significant rain fall last night and throughout the day today. Highway 599 is back open. We are on track to have everyone in for their reservations this coming Saturday July 25th without concern for safety.

Thank you to everyone for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers! While the fire created an inconvenience for us, many area camps, private homes, and entire communities burned with little to no notice. We would like to thank all of the firefighters who worked tirelessly through this extreme forest fire event to keep everyone safe. Hopefully the worst of the fire season is behind us.
