Pretty amazing, kids are free πŸ”οΈβ€οΈπŸ”οΈπŸ’Έ and we have affordable accommodation only 1 hour away.

New this winter, kids age 12 and under ski for free on Mount Cain. So plan your weekends and bring the whole family! Fun on the mountain just got even more cost effective for the young ones.

The age for free lift tickets has been doubled from 6 to 12 year olds and younger. To take advantage of this for your kids, just check in at the ticket booth, complete the waiver, attach your pass somewhere visble and you're set to ski. Season's passes for those 12 and under are also still available for a small fee for the printing of the pass. Check our website for full ticket pricing breakdowns (linked in our bio).

This initiative is part of our commitment to providing affordable and sustainable recreational activities to North Islanders and we can't wait to see your smiles on the slopes.

So keep that snow dancing upπŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒ Dec 6th isn't far away!

Beginning tomorrow at noon, campfire season is back for Sayward! See details below!

Effective at 12:00 (noon) Pacific Daylight Time on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025, the Category 1 Open Fire (campfire) prohibition for the Coastal Fire Centre will be lifted in the Campbell River, North Island Central Coast and the Sunshine Coast Natural Resource Districts.

Campfires remain allowed in Haida Gwaii. See the map for more information:https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/public-safety-and-emergency-services/wildfire-status/fire-bans-and-restrictions/coastal-maps/25_coastal_map_s10s12_prohibition_color_info_8x11l_sep_15.pdf

Campfires remain prohibited throughout the rest of the Coastal Fire Centre. Check with your local government or other jurisdictional authorities before lighting a fire of any size since they may have their own restrictions in place.

Category 2 and Category 3 open fire prohibitions are still in effect throughout the Coastal Fire Centre. For more information on open fire prohibitions within the Coastal Fire Centre visit: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/wildfire-status/prevention/fire-bans-and-restrictions/coastal-fire-centre-bans

A Category 1 Open Fire (campfire) is defined as any fire smaller than 0.5 metres high by 0.5 metres wide.

Human-caused wildfires are completely preventable and divert critical resources away from lightning-caused fires. Always practice safe, responsible fire use where permitted.

To report a wildfire, call 1 800 663-5555 toll-free or *5555 on a cell phone.

Effective at 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Thursday, July 17, Category 1 open fires (campfires) will be prohibited across the Coastal Fire Centre, excluding the Haida Gwaii Forest District and the portion of the Central Regional District that falls within the North Island Central Coast Forest District.

This prohibition will remain in place until 12 p.m. (noon) PDT on Oct. 30, 2025, or until the order is rescinded.

Prohibitions apply to all public and private lands unless otherwise specified. In addition to prohibiting the use of open fires of any size, the following activities are prohibited in most areas:
β€’ Fireworks; as defined in the Fireworks Act;
β€’ Binary Exploding Targets;
β€’ Sky Lanterns
β€’ Wood fired hot tubs, wood fired pizza ovens and other wood fired devices unless vented through a structure that has a flue and is incorporated in a building;
β€’ Burn Barrels or Burn Cages of any size or description;
β€’ Controlled air incinerators
β€’ Air curtain burners; and
β€’ Carbonizers.

This prohibition does not ban the use of cooking stoves with a CSA or ULC rating that use gas, propane or briquettes.

Prohibitions for Category 2 and 3 open fires are also in place for the Coastal Fire Centre, with the exception of the Haida Gwaii Forest District.
