Happy Spring everyone!
Most days don’t feel like it but there is warmth to the sun.
We are preparing for a very busy season in the next few months and looking forward to new and repeat guests spending some time here with us.

Cleanup is in progress around the property and buds on the trees, green poking through the ground always lifts spirits.

Once you settle into your cabin or Rock Maple Retreat room, it’s time to explore our property. We are surrounded by hiking trails, bring along your mountain bike , we have trails for that too. At the top of the mountain, you will find a very new hot tub, change room with guest towels for your use at our heated pool, seasonal.
Plenty of lawn games too.
Enjoy the fire pits located at each chalet, one at the Rock Maple Retreat.
Star gazing is a must, on a clear night you can see millions of them.
All the chalets are equipped with dishes, pots and pans, and a BBQ on each deck.
In mid August , if the weather cooperates, there is a blueberry patch for picking.

We are looking forward to meeting all our guests!

Six years ago, the heartbreaking events that began in Portapique changed Nova Scotia forever.

We remember the 22 lives that were taken – each one deeply loved and profoundly missed. We hold their families, friends, and communities close, today and always.

In the years since, the Mass Casualty Commission has helped us better understand what happened, including the warning signs and broader impacts of gender-based violence, and what must change. That work matters, and we all share a responsibility to stay committed to it so we can build a safer province in the memory of those we lost.

Grief can feel heavy, especially at times like this. If you or someone you know needs support, please call 211 or the provincial Mental Health and Addictions Crisis Line at 1-888-429-8167.

Nova Scotia Remembers.

The Town of New Glasgow is pleased to announce a new partnership with North Nova Education Centre to offer the New Glasgow Fire Cadet Program, beginning in September 2026.

The program will be open to students in Grades 10 through 12 and delivered as an after-school initiative through the Town of New Glasgow Fire Department. Participants will have the opportunity to earn a Fire Fighter 11 high school credit while gaining valuable, hands-on experience in the field of firefighting.

Through the program, students will develop foundational skills and knowledge in areas such as personal protective equipment, ropes and knots, first aid and CPR, forcible entry, and other essential firefighting techniques.

“This partnership represents an exciting opportunity for both the Town and local students,” said Mayor Nancy Dicks. “We are delighted to be working with North Nova Education Centre to provide students with meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. This program offers an excellent opportunity for young people to explore a potential career in firefighting and gain exposure to a highly respected and vital profession.”

“North Nova Education Centre is proud to partner with the Town of New Glasgow to deliver the Fire Cadet Program to our students,” said Principal Shane Pitts. “This opportunity allows students to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and explore a pathway in public service. Over time, programs like this help strengthen our community by inspiring the next generation of volunteer & professional firefighters and community leaders”

The program will be instructed by local Town of New Glasgow paid on-call firefighter and North Nova Education Centre teacher, Zach Langlois, who brings practical experience and expertise to the classroom.

The Town of New Glasgow is proud to support initiatives that foster youth development, career exploration, and community engagement.

Additional information will be provided through North Nova Education Centre in the coming weeks.
