Before you know it, the trophies will be 15 years old. Colours will be faded. Some of them will go in the trash. You’ll stop though, when you’re going through them. Memories will drop you on your ass. Cause your throat to tighten. Make you smile. Bring tears to your eyes.
The car may or may not be with you anymore at that point. You may or may not still be involved in the hobby. Things will have changed: you most of all. You won’t remember what some random person said about your car on Instagram. You’re going to forget how mad you were that you lost at certain shows. You won’t recall who won at 90% of the shows you attended.
You will remember this though: how you felt when you did win. How it felt to be part of your club, your crew, your people. You will never forget that feeling of knowing they had your back, of being part of something truly special. You’ll remember moments on the highway, sun rising as you all cruised together to that early morning show. If some of those friends pass away before their time, as many of mine have, you’ll forever find them out there, everytime you drive that same road. You won’t ever forget how you felt. Period.
I am getting older now, 40 is fast approaching. 20 years flew by all so very fast. I may not be out there much these days but I can tell you something: every moment I spent in the tuner community was worth it. I will forever be grateful for it. I look forward to seeing many of you again in less than two weeks, for the 15th Summer Showdown. This is my party for you, for all of us ❤️ As we remember Scott Lynch and Bailey Campbell, two friends recently gone too soon, we’ll celebrate what a wonderful family our community truly is.
