Today, for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and every day, the Prestige Hotels and Resorts community extends our respect and gratitude to the Indigenous Peoples of the lands where we live, work and play.
For us, this day is about more than wearing an orange shirt. This September, our teams have been working through a staff education guide built for learning, reflection and conversation about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools. Our shirts and pins were sourced through Kit and Kaboodle in Williams Lake, a verified Orange Shirt Society retailer, so that proceeds go directly toward Indigenous-led education and awareness initiatives.
We're committed to carrying this learning forward, all year.
At Prestige we recognize the Syilx/Okanagan people in Kelowna and Vernon, the Secwépemc Nation in Salmon Arm, Tk'emlúps te Secwepemc in Kamloops, the Ktunaxa and Secwépemc Peoples in Radium and Cranbrook, the Ktunaxa, Secwépemc Shuswap and Sinixt Peoples in Golden, the Sinixt, Syilx and Ktunaxa Peoples in Nelson and Rossland, the T'Sou-ke Peoples in Sooke, the Ts'msyen, Gitxsan, Nisga'a, Haida and Heiltsuk Peoples in Prince Rupert, the Gidimt'en Clan and Wet'suwet'en Peoples in Smithers, and the Lheidli T'enneh Peoples in Prince George.
We are grateful guests on these ancestral, traditional and unceded territories.
