South Frontenac’s Fire Chief, Del Blakney, has declared a Total Fire Ban in effect starting Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11:00 am. A total fire ban means no open air burning of any kind (cooking fires, brush fires and campfires) and includes the ban of fireworks. The current dry conditions with the lack of rain in the forecast equals the perfect circumstances for a wildfire to erupt.

South Frontenac’s Fire Chief, Del Blakney, has declared a Level One Fire Ban in effect starting today. A Level One Fire Ban means residents are not to set off fireworks and are not permitted to conduct any open-air burning; that includes grass, brush, or other combustible materials. With the announcement of the changes to the recycling program for July 1, there have been several questions concerning the colours associated with the different recycling bins: blue and yellow.

The term "yellow bin" and "blue bin" is simply to differentiate between weeks. Residents should continue to use their current recycling bins until otherwise told by the new collector, Emterra. Details: https://vist.ly/3n6mwrp

Starting July 1, South Frontenac will transition to an enhanced recycling system. Here’s what you need to know:

New collection day: Your recycling collection day may change. The first collection week will be blue week (containers) and takes place on July 1.

Materials accepted: Glass bottles, jars, and cartons are now accepted in your blue box, and cardboard can go out during yellow week (the grey box - Emterra refers to the grey box as yellow).
