located in beautiful Saddle Hills County, Alberta Hilltop Lake is a small, secluded haven and great getaway from busy day-to-day life.

Hilltop Lake Campground is located a short drive from La Glace, Woking, Spirit River, or Sexsmith, AB. Enjoy a relaxing day of paddleboarding or sunbathing on the beach, a family fun outing playing on the playground or in the horseshoe pits, or enjoy the scenery on foot or ATV on one of the many trails. The lake is an ideal spot for watersports enthusiasts, and you can often see visitors canoeing,

kayaking, paddle boarding, or simply swimming in the water. The Day Use Area is open year round, complete with an open shelter, fire pits, picnic tables, and a playground, and is perfect for a family gathering or outing. The campground has 10 back-in camping stalls, with added privacy from the natural forest canopy. It is a pet friendly campground and free firewood is available for guests. Cast your vote on the Saddle Hills County Photo Contest Facebook or Instagram () page, by 'liking' your favourite images. There is no limit to how many images you can vote on.

The winners will be determined by the number of 'likes' each image receives, by combining the numbers from both social media pages.

⚠️🔥 ⚠️🔥 As a result of the warmer-than-normal temperatures and drying conditions, the Fire Danger Rating in Saddle Hills County is now VERY HIGH to EXTREME.

As of September 19, 2025, the Fire Advisory in Saddle Hills County has been upgraded to a FIRE RESTRICTION.

Controlled burning in the Non-Forest Protection Area, including on privately-owned land, is now limited to campfires and burning barrels. Large fuel burns will not be permitted at this time.

This FIRE RESTRICTION will remain in place until conditions improve.

Saddle Hills County has downgraded the Fire Restriction to a FIRE ADVISORY. A Fire Advisory is also in effect for the Grande Prairie Forest Area. 🔥

Controlled burning in the Non-Forest Protection Area, including on privately-owned land, is limited to campfires, burning barrels, and hand-piled wood, two cubic metres or smaller.

Burn permits are still required and will be issued on a case-by-case basis. Large fuel burns will not be permitted at this time.

It's that time again - we are now accepting entries for the 2025 Saddle Hills County Photo Contest! This year's theme, is 'Through the Generations: Then & Now'. 📸

Whether your family has lived in this area for generations or you recently moved here (welcome!), our community is all about connections - family to family, past to present, present to future.

For this year's contest, we would like you to submit images that embody this theme, whether that is generational family images, images of an annual event, images of the family farm or homestead, composite images, images that focus on County history or something not listed here - show us what it is that you think best illustrates your connection to your home, to the land, and to each other.

As of June 17, 2025, the Fire Ban in Saddle Hills County and the Grande Prairie Forest Area has been downgraded to a FIRE RESTRICTION. This includes in Cotillion Park, Hilltop Lake, and Spring Lake. 🔥

🔥With approximately 50 mm of precipitation received over the weekend there has been little to no fire growth since Friday morning. The Hamelin Creek Wildfire (GWF028) is still considered to be Out of Control at approximately 5,500 ha, but is not anticipated to grow over the next several burning periods. However, Saddle Hills County will be extending the State of Local Emergency, as there are still areas under Evacuation Order. It should be noted that there are no residences located in this area.

Crews continue to work on the fire, maintaining and building dozer guards, including wildfire crews, heavy equipment and aircraft, when available.

Range Road 95 remains closed between Township Road 810 and Township Road 794, and should be used for local access only. Moonshine Lake Provincial Park also remains closed.

ATCO is proactively working on clearing burned trees away from the powerline located along Range Road 95, and repairing any damaged lines.

The fire poses no immediate poses no immediate threat to residents or structures, at this time, although the Evacuation Alert remains in place and residents should be ready to leave on short notice, if required.

Thank you to the Alberta Wildfire and Saddle Hills County Volunteer Fire Departments, including Blueberry Mountain, Savanna, and Happy Valley, who have dedicated countless hours working on this fire.

UPDATE #6: Hamelin Creek Wildfire (GWF028)

🔥 Saddle Hills County has updated the Evacuation Order due to Wildfire GWF028, in the Blueberry Mountain Area. This wildfire is now known as the Hamelin Creek Wildfire.

All those located between Township Road 794 and Highway 680 (Township Road 802), and Range Road 95 and Highway 725, remain on Evacuation Order, as well as in the Crown Land, north of Township Road 800 and south of the Blueberry Mountain Grazing Reserve. This includes Moonshine Lake Provincial Park.

All those in the surrounding area remain on Evacuation Alert and should be prepared to leave on short notice. Should you require assistance, please contact Saddle Hills County, at (780) 864-3760. All residents who were previously evacuated due to the fire may now return home, but should remain on alert.

UPDATE #5: Blueberry Mountain Wildfire (GWF028)

🔥Wildfire GWF028, located in the Blueberry Mountain area, is still classified as Out of Control, and estimated to be 3,000 ha in size.

Last night, the fire crossed the Silver Valley Road (Range Road 95), resulting in the evacuation of one additional residence. This road is now closed, between Highway 49 and Township Road 810. County personnel are staffing the road blocks 24/7.
