Our neighbours are re-opening today!

Shaughnessy’s Cove officially reopens TOMORROW and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome you back through our doors!

We’ll be easing back into our routine this weekend, so brunch won’t be available August 29th & 30th. Starting next week, we will be open for regular hours and look forward to bringing back our brunch programming.

Our dear friends and collaborators at Flambé At Home are open again!

If you’ve been waiting for a way to support us, this is the week we need you. 🙏

Come grab meals. Fill your fridge or freezer. Tell a friend. And if you can’t make it in Thursday, Friday or Saturday, please share this post so someone in your circle can.

August has been something we never could have predicted.

For Flambé, it meant:

→ Closing our doors and evacuating for 12 days
→ Our employees losing hours
→ Returning to throw out our entire inventory
→ Reordering every ingredient from scratch
→ Putting hundreds of labour hours back into the kitchen
→ Rebuilding our coolers and our business from zero

Since this happened, we’ve seen hundreds of comments from people telling us:

“We’ll be there when you reopen.”

That support has meant more than we can explain.

And now… we’re reopening. 🥹

Proud, Nervous, Grateful, Excited, Exhausted, Inspired, the list goes on.

The next few days are when those words can turn into something incredibly meaningful for our small business.

Every meal purchased helps us rebuild.
Every person you tell helps.
Every share helps.

There’s been a lot to do, and we couldn’t be prouder of this team and the care they’re putting into getting the resort ready.

💛 SUMMERLAND IS REOPENING

We are so happy to share that Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa will reopen to guests on Friday, August 28.

It has been an extraordinary few weeks for our community. While the resort has been closed to the public, we have been providing accommodation for people displaced by the Bald Range wildfire, as well as personnel fighting the fire, restoring critical infrastructure and helping our community recover. We will continue to accommodate those who need us as we reopen.

And now, we are ready to welcome you back too.

Come spend some late-summer time by Okanagan Lake, relax by the pool, soak in the hot tubs or get out on the water. SUP and kayak rentals will reopen August 28, operating from 9 am to 3 pm, Thursday through Monday, until September 21.

🎶 We’re also bringing live local music back to the resort! Join us Saturdays on September 5, 12, and 19 for free live music by the lake. Resort guests, Summerland locals and visitors are all welcome.

Our regular summer Experiences programming has finished for the season.

There is still recovery ahead for Summerland, and we remain incredibly grateful to everyone working to protect and support our community.

Bald Range Wildfire Update 💛

Summerland remains partially evacuated, with a phased return now underway for residents. Members of our team are looking forward to the day they can return home. For those on our team who have lost homes, we will be there to support them as they begin the difficult road to recovery.

Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa remains closed to the public.

We have, however, been permitted to bring a small team back to the resort to clean and prepare rooms so they can be used by visiting personnel who are fighting the wildfire, working on critical infrastructure and helping make it possible for Summerland residents to return home.

Our hope is simple: to give these hardworking people a comfortable place to get a good night’s sleep, so they can rest, recharge and get back to the important work they are doing for our community.

We are profoundly grateful to everyone fighting the fire, restoring infrastructure, supporting evacuees and helping Summerland move toward recovery. We are also grateful for the countless ways this community continues to show up for one another.

There is still a long road ahead, and we will walk it together.

Bald Face Wildfire Update

We have some welcome news to share today. Power has been restored to Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa, and the hotel is still standing.

At this time, however, the resort remains closed. We will return when we are permitted to do so, when it is safe for our team to return, and when operations can responsibly resume. We will provide updates as soon as we have more information.

Our SWR team is accounted for, although our community has not come through this without tragedy. Some members of our SWR family have lost their homes. Our team members are currently with their families and loved ones, attending to their own safety and well-being. We will do everything we can to care for them and their families.

Because of this, we are not currently managing reservations, monitoring email or web chats, or taking phone calls. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we prioritize our people.

We are incredibly proud of how our team responded on Friday night. A special thank you to Sam, Mirel, Shaun, Mike and Steve, who stayed until the building was locked and secured. You put the safety of others first in an extraordinary moment. We owe you a tremendous debt of gratitude.

We also want to thank our GM Lisa’s sister Lana and her husband Carlo, who were visiting Summerland and stepped in without hesitation to help Lisa’s family and assist with the hotel evacuation. As Lisa put it, they went “above and beyond the sister call of duty.” We are incredibly grateful to them both.

The true heroes of these past few days are the firefighters, first responders, RCMP, District of Summerland teams, machine operators, analysts and the many people working behind the scenes. There are too many to name. While the rest of us drove away from the danger, they drove toward it. Thank you for taking on this fire and saving everything you possibly could.

Thank you as well to everyone who has sent a message, checked in or offered support. It means a tremendous amount to all of us.

Summerland and Faulder are filled with resilient people. We will come together. We will care for one another. We will clean up and rebuild.

Everyone is safe.

Summerland Waterfront Resort & Spa was evacuated last night due to the wildfire affecting our community. Thanks to the calm and efficient response of our team, all guests and team members were safely evacuated.

The resort is currently closed.

We are deeply grateful to the firefighters, first responders and emergency personnel who are working tirelessly to protect our town and the people who call Summerland home. Thank you for your extraordinary efforts.

Our thoughts are with our neighbours, local businesses, residents and everyone impacted.

For current information about the wildfire and emergency response, please rely on official updates from the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen and BC Wildfire Service.

We will provide further updates about the resort as information becomes available. Thank you to everyone who has reached out with concern and support.
