Since 2008, Harmony Homestay has been working with school districts across the Lower Mainland to connect bright, global students from all around the world with warm and compassionate host families. Through the years, we’ve watched our students and families create long-lasting experiences and build global relationships that extend far beyond their stay in Canada. Based in Surrey, British Columbia, we offer a variety of services for international students and visitors, including homestay placement, custodianship and mentorship programs, support with school district applications, and travel assistance.

🍁🦃 Sharing warm Thanksgiving greetings to you and yours! 🦃🍁

The second Monday in October marks Thanksgiving Day in Canada. The changing season begins to show us the beauty of Autumn and reminds us to give thanks for the blessings of the past year by gathering with loved ones, enjoying meals together, and reflecting on gratitude for what we have. While expressing this gratitude, it's important to also reflect on the holiday's roots in colonialism and to acknowledge our privilege on this land.

What are you thankful for? We'd love to hear about your family's traditions and how you will share a feeling of home and connection with your student.

A little reminder for anyone wondering what hosting actually looks like: you don’t have to entertain your student every weekend. Sometimes you go somewhere fun together, and sometimes they'll head out on their own.

Sometimes the best memories are the simplest, like this moment from the Luong family.

🍂A hike, and day outside enjoying our gorgeous national parks.

That’s part of what makes hosting so special. It isn’t about creating a perfect experience. It’s about welcoming a student into real family life and sharing the everyday moments that make a place feel like home. 🏡

For many families, hosting becomes less about “adding one more thing” and more about making space for connection, conversation, and new perspective.
