Murphy Cove is a 7th generation coastal fishing village rooted in history as a hub of boat building, blacksmithing and rum running. Relax at our community campfire with a plate of complimentary freshly steamed mussels and listen to the strum of a guitar, tales of local folklore and the nearby waves of the Atlantic Ocean. A sea-lover's paradise! Come visit and enjoy a slice of old fashioned Nova Scotia hospitality!

This is what a normal morning sounds like around here.

Nothing fancy.

Some mornings, a boat heads out before you've even had your first coffee. Other mornings, it's just the birds making enough noise for everyone.

Now and then, a guest will mention how peaceful it is, and it reminds me not to take those little moments for granted.

*New* Evening Boat Tours

Experience the Wild Islands at a slower pace with our new evening boat tour!

As the day winds down, we take our time exploring the islands and keeping our eyes open for the incredible wildlife that calls this coastline home.

Some of our guests have already been lucky enough to spot seals, porpoises, and sunfish on the water this summer — and you never know what you might encounter!

There’s something magical about being out on the ocean in the evening, surrounded by the peacefulness of the Wild Islands as the sun gets low in the sky.

Come see the Wild Islands from a different perspective — and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife!

Book your evening adventure and see what you might discover!

One of my favourite things around here has always been watching people get to know each other.

It usually starts around the fire after supper, or over a cup of coffee in the morning. One conversation turns into another, and before long, people are talking like old friends.

We've had guests from all over the world meet here, and it's not unusual to see people exchanging email addresses or saying goodbye like they've known each other for years.

It's funny how quickly a group of strangers can start feeling like neighbours around a campfire.

I think that's always been one of the best parts of Murphy's.

You'd think after spending your whole life out here, I'd know exactly what to expect.

Truth is, I don't.

Every trip seems to have its own little surprises. The tide changes, the wildlife decides to make an appearance (or not), and somehow the islands always seem to look a little different.

I think that's why I still enjoy taking people out.

You never really know what's waiting around the next island.

Murphy's has grown quite a bit over the years.

It started as a campground, and camping will always be a big part of who we are. But over the last few years, we've added a few more ways to stay because we know everyone's idea of a great getaway looks a little different.

So whether you're arriving with an RV, setting up a tent, or booking one of our domes or other accommodations, we've tried to create something for all kinds of travellers.

Have a swipe through and see which one feels most like your kind of getaway.

One of the things I like about kayaking is how much you notice once you slow down.

You aren't rushing anywhere, so you start seeing the little things. A seal pops up beside you. A blue heron standing perfectly still along the shore. Little coves that almost disappear unless you're right there beside them.

There's no real right way to kayak; just take your time and see where the tide takes you.

This is the view waiting for you when you step outside the domes.

We did make one little update this season with the new lockable doors (which we're pretty happy about).

But honestly...

I still think what's waiting outside them is the best part.

Stand here long enough, and you'll understand why they call this stretch of coastline the 100 Wild Islands.

Every time you think you've taken it all in, you notice another island sitting a little farther out.

Some mornings you can see them all stretching out across the water. Other days, the fog rolls through, and they almost disappear.

I don't think I've ever gotten tired of that view.

We added the domes because we wanted to create another way to experience Murphy's.

Camping has always been at the heart of what we do, but we also know it isn't for everyone all the time. Some people may just want to spend the day outside but still come back to a real bed at night.

The domes let you keep the best parts. You're still waking up to the sounds of the woods. You're still spending most of the day outside. At the end of it all, though, you've got a cozy bed waiting for you, and honestly... that's pretty nice.

I think we’ve found a nice balance between camping and a few extra comforts. Exactly what we were hoping they'd be.
