Yesterday, we said goodbye to our sweet Emma 💖After over a month of palliative care, she passed peacefully and with the same grace she carried through her entire life.
Emma was a gentle lady in every sense of the word. Polite, well-mannered, endlessly kind, and truly the best dog in the universe. She loved treats, long walks, the campground, and swimming in the lake. She loved everyone-kids, adults, and every animal she ever met.
Emma had a very real fan club here at the Campground, wherever she went-kids and adults alike, t-shirts, stickers, treats in pockets, and smiles everywhere she showed up. Emma clearly wasn’t just a dog - she was a presence!
To Emma’s incredible fan club-family in BC, family in Pennsylvania, Alabama, and overseas, our seasonal campers, our little community, pups and kittens, Chuck & Kim for letting her out when Arnie and I were out for the day, Rudy, Milly, and John were her best friends! The endless treat givers, Roy & Lyn, Nicel, Nicole, Tina, Max, Luna, Jax-summer runs and fun, all the amazing pets and grins, Lois for the pop by pets, Ken & Noel for the visits by the campfire, the swims and extra toys, the kids who stopped by just to say hi, and everyone who loved her-thank you 💛 She felt every bit of it! We loved you more when you love her!
To the kids and families who looked for her each day and made her part of their routine - you were her joy, and she adored you.
Emma loved her people, and she loved this community. We are so grateful for the kindness, memories, and love you all shared with her. When she was scared from the fireworks and so many wonderful souls went to look for her and found her! Phaedra and Marilyn-and the walkers of Canoe! You gave us a miracle that day!
She was happiest spending her days by Arnie’s side, when her age starting affecting her movements, Arnie built ramps, trailers, to assist 🙂 Her mornings and evenings curled up beside me, having a coffee, and yapping about the day's adventures, sleeping close and we would rise for a cuppa. For 14 years, she was part of our every day/evening routine-wanna go out, is she hungry, how about a little something (treats) and this morning, the quiet felt especially heavy without her. Lost with tears streaming.
A very special thank you to her favourite pup sitter, Shirley. The long walks and talks, treats, extras, she wagged her tail in circles when you walk in! Emma didn’t go alone-she took her carrot with her 🥕-A small detail that somehow means everything. 💛
We are heartbroken and feeling a little lost, but so incredibly grateful for the years, the memories, and the love she gave so freely. Emma lived a life full of goodness, and she left this world wrapped in love!
She went peacefully to sleep with Arnie and I beside her, kisses on her forehead, surrounded by the people who loved her most.
Until we see each other again, sweet Emma 🌈a/k/a boo, sweet baby, emmabobamma, mummy's gurl, hunnnaaayyyyy
