The first official weekend of guiding kicked off with a bang this weekend! Back to the 10-12 hr days on the water between guiding and water taxis and loving every bit of it!! Minus the walleye, I had such a stellar spring pattern down this year fishing with buddies, and then they got funky as soon guests showed up 🤦♂️…But that didn’t stop us from having a great time with lakers, some bass, and stumbled across a really cool pike pattern I’ll definitely be trying out again!! 🐊😎 we were so close to batting the cycle, but old marble eye played hard to get.
The spring can humble you out here on this massive water body, but that’s the fun in it! I’ll figure it out again, just in time for the upcoming shad fly hatch I anticipate happening here in the next 2 weeks, and then they’ll go lock jaw for a few days and the pattern will change yet again! Gotta love fishing! But even more so the groups that keep coming back year after year, and the new faces that show up. I had a triple header with a great group on Friday with a bunch of guys I always look forward to fishing with. Then my long time buddies Darren, Leo, Scotty and Herring Frank had me for the weekend where Frank got his PB laker. Followed up this morning by Kevin and Micheal who got the biggest laker of the weekend at 35”. We were on schools of hundreds of fish this whole weekend, sometimes on the graph it seemed like 1000’s. This lake is something special and every day I walk down to my boat to start the day I’m incredibly thankful to be a part of it! 🎣🏆
Still a few dates left each month between now and Thanksgiving. But Im trying to cut down on guiding, doing only 1 guided trip a day this year, instead of previous years where I would do 2 a day, while honouring my 9-5 taxi schedule. I should have a couple more water taxi drivers this summer so maybe that will change making the water taxi and fishing schedule more flexible but for now reach out and don’t miss out your chance to come catch a memory out here on Temagami!
