January might be the official beginning of the year but September certainly feels like a fresh start with kids back to school and the no a slowing down for the season here in Tofino.

August, sometimes affectionately know as ‘fogust’ around here, is a special month in Tofino.

But, when the conditions are just right, something extra special happens…

Around the New Moon the sky is extra dark between dusk and dawn which makes conditions perfect for two things:

Star gazing 🌠
Bioluminesence hunting 🌌

This August the New Moon coinsides with the annual Persides Meteior shower’s peak August 12th and 13th.

Remember to look up and down for the glow this year 🔭
