Now that we're back home and rested, time to thank a bunch of people for what was an unbelievable experience this past weekend in Nicolet, Quebec for the 2026 Festifeu, hot sauce expo.

Firstly, thank you to organizer Jasmin Hamel .de.feu (first slide) and his team for inviting me to Festifeu and putting on one helluva show. I was completely blown away by the organization and ex*****on of what is probably the biggest hot sauce festival in Canada. It's been a festival I've always wanted to experience and I cannot thank him enough for personally inviting me to take part, with a specific request to come and be handed "Grand Champion du Canada" after having won their inaugural Canadian Hot Sauce Awards. The onslaught of customers waiting for me at my booth after the announcement is something I will never forget.

Thank you to all the customers who were patient with me and allowed me to make a few mistakes as I took you through my sauces and my very limited French! I was told my French was very good many times, and that certainly helped my confidence as the weekend went on. Merci beaucoup!

And on that note, an extra special thanks for Guillermo Pi Lajes (second slide) for volunteering to be my personal translator and second wing during the busiest time of the weekend on Saturday. Without his help I could not have survived that wave of customers wanting to sample and buy our products. He was a rock star to the enth degree and I cannot thank him enough.

And finally, a thank you to all the staff and volunteers who welcomed me with open arms and continuously told me they were honoured that I took the time to make the trip and attend the festival. Believe me, the honour was all mine. You were all so amazing, I cannot wait to see you all again next year.

And on that note, my first ever Festifeu is in the books. To those that have not attended...all I can say is you need to experience this event. It's almost impossible to put into words. The closest I can get is "it was incredible".

This sauce truly is the gift that keeps on giving!

We are incredibly proud and excited to announce that our Honey Garlic Hot Sauce has been awarded Top Honours in the inaugural Canadian Hot Sauce Awards. 🥇

The awards were hosted by Jasmin Hamel and his team at Frères de Feu and announced this past weekend at the 2026 Festifeu Sauce Piquantes/Hot Sauce Festival FESTIFEU in Nicolet, Quebec.

This was a true cross-Canada competition, with companies from every province invited to submit their sauces for evaluation by a select panel of judges. Among them was Sandra Plourde Sandra Plourde, best known as the first winner of MasterChef Québec, along with a number of talented chefs and restaurant owners from the region.

With 170+ sauces submitted from across Canada, we are absolutely thrilled, humbled, and honoured to have been chosen as number one and given the recognition as "Grand Champion du Canada".

A huge thank you to Jasmin Hamel and the entire judging panel for tasting our sauce and deeming it worthy of this incredible honour. We truly cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to participate in such an amazing event. One that is sure to grow for many years to come.

And extra special thanks to all those that swarmed our booth looking to snag a bottle or two, or six as some had done upon hearing that we had won!

We are beyond proud to bring this recognition home, and we’re already looking forward to coming back and competing again next year!

Je vais chez Nicolet pour Festifeu !

Yup, that is correct. We are excited to join 50 other hot sauce companies for one of the biggest hot sauce festivals in Canada, and it's all happening next weekend!

The festival takes place August 28-30 at Parc Marguerite D'Youville in Nicolet, Quebec and is being organized by Jasmin Hamel of Frères de Feu and his team, who also happen to be doing the inaugural Canadian Hot Sauce Awards, in which they will be announcing all the Provincial award winners during the event as well.

We have entered our Honey Garlic, Nashville North and Hallowed Satay!🤞

Festival Times:
• Friday 4pm - 10pm
• Saturday 11am - 10pm
• Sunday 11am - 4pm

This is unchartered territory for us, but we are super excited to be a part of it all. If you are coming, we shall see you there!

NEW VENDOR ALERT!

We'd like to thank Cherry and her family at 🍏 🌹 Fruitland Danforth 🌹 🍏 for trusting in our products, and stocking 4 of our sauces on their shelves.

We met Cherry as our vendor neighbour at the East York Canada Day festival and we established our friendship that day after her son tried and bought some of our hot sauces. Brave young man!

So to be asked to supply their store with some of our products is a great honour that we truly appreciate.

If you are in the area and need fresh fruits, vegetables and more, please do stop in and visit them. Such a great neighbourhood store.

Reintroducing our latest three sauces, or as we call them, The Three Amigos!

If you haven't had the chance to try any one of these new sauces, we believe you are missing out and encourage you to try a sample the next time you see us!

Tequilapeño - Even though this sauce was created for the Tequila Expo Tour last year, the relaunch of this sauce has been outstanding and it has become our best selling sauce the last two months. Pineapple, jalapeno, Habanero and Tequila. What's not to love?

Pesto Town - Taking a page out of my wife Hiromi's recipe, we developed this hot sauce simply because we love pesto and we needed to make a spicy version. It's everything you'd expect from a pesto sauce, and it's vegan!

Here's Franky - our second collaboration with Dylan Lowry/Barb Bisang, this is your all-purpose garlic, cayenne and apple cider vinegar sauce that you can, and will, put on everything. This is quickly climbing up the ranks! And the label is awesome too.

Since these are in high demand, we will ensure we have these always available! Come see us and try 'em out!

We wish this was for comedic purposes, but unfortunately it is not.

After what transpired at an event we did yesterday, we felt the need to write our pleas, demands, cries for help, whatever you want to call this ... to all dog owners that attend our events.

It is not, I repeat, it is NOT your right to allow your dog to p*e wherever they please at our events. More specifically, on our tents, our signage, our standup displays, and/or our sandwich boards.

This is our office, our blood, sweat and tears, our livelihoods.

And you allowing your dogs to do this shows you have no respect for any of us.

No less than five times yesterday at one of our events which was held at a pet store, in a big box centre, on the sidewalk outside of the store, did five owners of their dogs let them p*e all over our tent and displays.

When called out and reprimanded for their lack of situational awareness and irresponsibility, not one of these owners apologized, and worse, even remotely tried to stop their dogs from doing their business.

We heard:
"This isn't the event for you if you're going to be this upset"
"Your first mistake was bringing signage for dogs to p*e on"
"You should've expected this, and brought soap and water!"

It is reprehensible behaviour of every single one of these owners.

After the fifth time and the ensuing heated argument, we packed up and left only two hours into a four hour event. There was no question in our minds this ridiculousness was going to to continue and we felt it best we leave before things escalated further.

So if you are bringing your dog to our markets, you have a responsibility to every single vendor there to be under full control of your dog and what it does.

Anything less is unacceptable. And we do not have to tolerate it, and you will be called out on it every single time.

Do better as a human. That's all we ask.
