You might have postpartum care covered through work and not even know it. 👀

1 in 8 mothers and birthing parents in Canada have a healthcare need go unmet after birth.

Because somehow, we still prepare endlessly for the baby… and barely at all for what comes after.

If you have Carrot Fertility, your benefits may cover Alma Care postpartum support for the first six weeks — including a Certified Postpartum Doula in your home for:

Newborn care. Feeding. Sleep. Recovery. Daytime or overnight support.

Basically: someone who knows what they’re doing, right when you need them most. 🤍

Have Carrot? Check your coverage.

And send this to the pregnant friend in your group chat — she’ll thank you later.

No one hands you a manual for this - so here’s what I wish someone had told me before I became a mom.

I wish I knew that asking for help was never a weakness, and “bouncing back” should never have been in our vocabulary to begin with.

What do you wish you knew?

As International Breastfeeding Week concludes, we’re grateful have had the opportunity to share practical tips for families who are navigating this important aspect of parenting and postpartum with CP24 Toronto's Breaking News

Three takeaways:

• identify and communicate your feeding goals
• like learning any new skill, it helps to have a coach
• see a Lactation Consultant within the first 3-5 days after birth to help with latching, understanding hunger cues and developing supply

5 days.
Real rest.
A team that sees the whole picture — sleep, healing, feeding, mental health.

that’s what proactive postpartum care looks like. starting at $900.

Thank you, Yvonne, for trusting us with your story 🤍

Yvonne shared her postpartum depression journey with Healthing.ca the isolation of a pandemic pregnancy, the moment a doctor finally told her “this matters,” the slow climb back to herself. It’s honest, and it’s generous of her to let other moms see it.
This is exactly why we built Alma. Not because we can take PPD away — but because we can be the tactical support that’s actually there in the room: the extra hands, the trained eyes that notice when something’s off, the space for a mom to sleep, shower, and just breathe while someone she trusts holds the baby.
Yvonne’s story is a reminder that recovery isn’t linear, and it isn’t meant to be done alone.

things i’m not gatekeeping as a new mom:

the moms who look the calmest usually have the most support.

not because they were “doing it better” but because they aren’t trying to do everything alone.

some of these things are small. some change everything.

either way, motherhood became a lot softer when i stopped treating support like a luxury
