here is a letter from some happy renters last season:
Hi Lisa,
Thanks so much for your send-off email. We, indeed, have had a most wonderful week here at lovely Protolarocca! As most of the family have long drives home tomorrow, they'll be heading out early but it's nice to not feel rushed to be out by 11 - thanks so much for that. With a shorter drive, Michael and I just might have a last swim after clean up and load up. 😊
So everyone's gone to bed and as I always tend to do, I'm staying up a bit later on this last night for some reflection and savouring. Just thought I'd share a few highlights of our time here in Muskoka...
The weather was magnificently cooperative overall! One hard rainshower with some fun thunder and then glorious the rest of the time. A couple days of hot and humidity, a couple days of 23 comfortable and the rest a glorious 25-30. The swimming is absolutely beautiful here on Myers Lake - you did not exaggerate! Perfect temperature with those cooling, fresh spring jets! We took advantage of both kayaks to explore the lake and thoroughly enjoyed your paddle board! For me and my sister Emma, THAT was a definite highlight!! What an amazing feeling, gliding across the water standing up! We took turns on it but then decided to try it together! Oh my god, I don't know if I've ever laughed so hard!! We paddled around and then took your advice and started doing yoga poses together! Lol! The downward dog was a success - even with a raised leg! Standing tree and warrior were tricky but we got 'em; I would not, however, recommend a double bow. Took us down each time. Lol!
We did not end up going hiking around the lake, unfortunately. We're not so partial to rattle snakes so thought we'd best not bother them. But it really didn't matter; we just loved hanging here at the cottage and exploring the lake. We made it into town to Chez Henni for a nice lunch, walked around Port Carling awhile and enjoyed poking around the MacTier shop with all the wonderful local crafts. The beds at the cottage were all very comfortable and the linens all smelled SO good - fresh off the clothes line! The tv was barely turned on and the wifi worked just fine when needed.
So all in all, we had a truly wonderful vacation and we all thank you again from the bottom of our hearts for welcoming us into your beautiful Muskoka refuge. The sunsets were exquisite and the stars sparkling bright and we made many memories during this too short week. We never know what our years will entail but I certainly hope we can return to Protolarocca again. I'll attach a few pics here for your amusement and then I'm off to bed for one last, wonderful country sleep.
Cheers to you, Lisa and and Cheers to Lake Myers!
