Rabbi Hanna Yerushalmi ( on IG) has shared this poem with us as we remember. We remember the lives taken on October 7, 2023. We remember the families forever changed. We remember the fear, grief, and heartbreak of a day that left an indelible mark on Israel and the Jewish people around the world. May the memories of those we lost be a blessing, may those who survived continue to find healing, and may we hold one another close as we carry their stories forward.

Our hearts are with Belleville’s Jewish community following the shooting at Sons of Jacob Synagogue on Yom Kippur.

At URJ Camp George, we believe deeply in the power of kehillah, sacred community, and our responsibility to care for and stand with one another. Today and always, we stand with the Belleville Jewish community and the members of our Camp George family who were at the synagogue that evening.

We are deeply grateful to Constable Jeff Smith for his courageous actions. May he be surrounded by strength and healing, and may he have a refuah shleimah, a full and speedy recovery.

May we continue to be a source of strength, compassion, and light for one another.
