Another exciting restaurant located in the town of Joe Batts Arm! About a 20 minute drive from Fogo
We’re excited to announce new plans for the restaurant in Joe Batt’s Arm (formerly Scoff & Nicole’s Café). Read on to learn how you can help us name it!
Fogo Island has a set of cultural foodways that are essential to our community identity and heritage. The foods we grow, hunt, forage, and fish make us who we are as Fogo Islanders and, more broadly, as Newfoundlanders & Labradorians.
This May, we will re-open the restaurant, offering simple, healthy dining options that prioritize local foods for dinner (lunch) and supper. Ingredients including seafood, berries, and root vegetables in familiar preparations will take centre stage.
The yet-to-be-named restaurant will also act as a community hub for foodways learning and development: outside of restaurant hours, we will run educational and participatory programming, engaging local community members as well as visitors to share their knowledge.
We’re interested to hear your name suggestions for this new endeavour. We’d be delighted for you to share your thoughts using this form: https://buff.ly/3Lmzr6D
We tip our (chef’s) hat to the talented previous proprietors of the Joe Batt’s Arm restaurant; thanks to them, this space has been an active food hub on Fogo Island for over a decade. Similarly, we salute all the wonderful food establishments on Fogo Island, with whom we’ve already shared these plans. Together, we’re looking forward to being of service to our community members and visitors.
