On August 25th we put out a call for something a little wild - two special couples willing to dive into a short-timeline wedding adventure with us. One of the very first messages that came through was from Tabitha, asking about the afternoon micro-wedding slot.
She and her fiancé Jake had been together for 5 years, raising three incredible kids, and like so many young families, the dream of a wedding day kept getting put on hold in the chaos of life. By that very evening, the two of them were standing on our property, touring the venue, laughing and dreaming out loud about what was possible. Before bedtime, they were booked. No hesitation. Just pure joy and excitement that, finally, they were going to say “I do.” The date set for September 14th, 2025!
Within days, Tabitha had found a dress, plans were rolling, and what followed was 20 days of what can only be described as a whirlwind of vendors, vision boards, and “how many candles is too many candles?” (Spoiler: you can never have too many.)
By September 2nd, we still hadn’t found our second adventurous couple, and in true wedding fashion, we pivoted. Instead of two micro weddings, Tabitha and Jake were offered the full day - a wedding day all about them and their love story. They said yes (of course!), and the plans shifted again.
Now, here’s the thing about Tabitha: she is the only girl in a small sea of five brothers. So you can imagine what it meant to her mom, Brigitte, to pour her heart and soul into this day. And let me tell you - Brigitte is a spectacular force driven by a deep love for her family. She worked side-by-side with us, tirelessly adding personal touches, ensuring nothing was missed, adding sweet little personalized details and ensuring her only daughter’s wedding was perfect. Except maybe the seating chart debacle… but hey, every legendary wedding needs one “lol” story to retell for years, right?
And as if the universe had its hand in the planning, the timing worked out in the most beautiful way. Tabitha’s dad, Allan, who lives in another country, just happened to be visiting Canada for the first time in a year — and the wedding date fell right on that same weekend. With only weeks to pull everything together, one of Tabitha’s biggest worries was that her father wouldn’t be there to walk her down the aisle. But fate had other plans, and there he was, by her side, taking those unforgettable steps with her. It felt less like chance and more like destiny, the perfect piece falling into place to make her day complete.
The level of planning was insane. We had planners, décor designers, a cake artist, florist, hair and makeup, and three photographers capturing every single detail. It was organized chaos at its finest.
Finally, the day arrived. At 7am, with the sun barely peeking over the horizon, vendors rolled in, boxes in hand, ladders up, flowers everywhere. Our clear-top gazebo transformed hour by hour from rustic charm into elegant romance. By the time the last petal was in place, florals seemed to burst from every corner from top to bottom, candles adorned every surface, and hundreds of tiny details came together in perfect harmony.
At 11am, Jake and Tabitha arrived for rehearsal. Their first glimpse of the ceremony space stopped them in their tracks - they had an idea of the concept, but no idea of just how magical it would all feel when it came together. (And they hadn’t even seen the reception space yet!)
From there, the bride and her girls dove into hair and makeup at the cabin while the groom and his groomsmen headed off to a nearby Airbnb to get ready. Hours later, Tabitha re-emerged for her first look photos, radiant in her dress, her smile saying everything her heart was feeling: excitement, anticipation, and the joy of finally reaching this moment.
By 3pm, it was showtime. Guests had arrived, groomsmen looking sharp, bridesmaids stunning, and the pre-wedding buzz in the air. The ceremony began, the officiant asking everyone to tuck away their cell phones for an unplugged ceremony focused entirely on the couple. And what a ceremony it was - intimate, emotional, filled with vows so personal and heartfelt they left more than a few people teary-eyed.
From there, cocktail hour unfolded around the firepit(The weather was incredible but too warm for a fire just yet). Guests mingled with drinks and snacks, laughter echoing in the air. A slideshow of the couples years together played, a thousand beautiful memories woven into music and smiles. Meanwhile our newlyweds snuck away with photographers to capture those first just-married moments.
Dinner was served under the gazebo, a delicious catered meal paired with heartfelt words from family and friends. Every toast, every story added another layer of love to the evening. And then came their first dance.
The two of them began with a choreographed number that flowed seamlessly into an intimate slow dance, wrapped in each other’s arms. But little did they know - their guests had a secret. Quietly, carefully, everyone surrounded the couple, lit sparklers in hand. In an instant, the dance floor lit up with twinkling light. Tabitha and Jake were completely encircled, held not just by each other, but by the love and joy of everyone who had come to celebrate them. It was nothing short of magic, a moment destined to be remembered forever.
After that? The party was on. Music up, dance floor full, laughter and joy spilling into the air as the stars slowly filled the sky. Conversations around the campfire, kids running through the trees and enjoying the playhouse, an impromptu sparkler photo session deep in the woods, memories made at every turn.
And when the music, laughter, and sparkler light finally faded, and the last of their guests had drifted off to bed, we quietly pulled Tabitha and Jake back to the dancefloor one last time. The speakers hummed to life, their chosen songs filling the night air, and we suggested they close out their whirlwind day in the simplest, most perfect way - just the two of them, swaying under the twinkle lights and the wide-open sky. No audience, no chaos, no timelines - just a husband and wife, wrapped up in each other, holding on after a day overflowing with love, laughter, happy tears, and a little bit of beautiful madness. And that’s how we left them: hearts full, arms around each other, dancing alone beneath the stars.
Tabitha and Jake - thank you. Thank you for taking this leap of faith with us, for trusting us to pull off a wedding in three weeks flat (not everyone would be that brave, lol), and for allowing us to be a part of something so intimate and so beautiful.
You two are the kind of people who make everyone around you believe in love again. The way you look at each other, the way you show up for each other and your kids, the way your families show up for you - it’s extraordinary.
We are beyond grateful to have met you and your family. We now consider you friends and cannot wait until our paths cross again. From the bottom of our hearts - congratulations!!! Your wedding was a day none of us will ever forget!!!🥰
(It will be a little bit for the photographers to work through all the memories captured but here are some photos collected from our team!)
