English Bay Hotel is an independently owned hotel at 1150 Denman Street in Vancouver, B.C. We are hiring one full-time and one on-call front desk staff member to work long-term. The new front desk staff will work with the current front desk staff, maids, and hotel management. Scheduling is flexible as there are 3 daily shifts (8 AM to 4 PM, 4 PM to 12 AM, and 12 AM to 8 AM). New employees will be paid $13.85 per hour, and will receive raises periodically.

Required Qualifications:
• Intermediate / Advanced English language skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Computer skills.
• Organizational skills.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours.
• Must be able to lift up to 32 kg.

Asset Qualifications (these qualifications are assets but are not compulsory):
• Japanese language skills.
• Customer service experience.
• Education and/or experience related to hospitality / tourism.
• Experience handling cash and transactions.
• Ability to work with and interact with people of different cultures.

Job Duties:
• Administer hotel services such as helping guests check in and check out, processing payments and refunds, moving and storing luggage, and booking taxi cars for guests.
• Process reservation requests as well as reservation cancellations and modifications. File and retain all reservation information.
• Interact with guests in a friendly manner by answering questions and recommending Vancouver activities and attractions.
• Coordinate with maids regarding room cleaning service and communicate with management regarding repairs and other matters.
• Administrative duties include tracking cash flow and ensuring that all supplies (office supplies as well as food and beverages for the guests) are stocked.
