We’ve often wondered about how convenient a wireless power supply would be. And then we realized that that would probably be lightning, or at the very least, a huge spark. We also realized that battery power is probably the more common, and certainly safer option.
Which brings us to what we actually want to talk about today. Battery-powered speakers. We have them now! And guess what… they can be Bluetooth enabled as well, so they are truly wireless in the most non-lighting way!
We aren’t talking about the little stress ball shaped things that irritatingly blare techno hanging off the side of a backpack on what used to be a very serene hiking trail. Nope. These are full on event speakers that can play that same techno for a ball room full of delegates or the Star Wars theme at a movie in the park!
Introducing the Electro-Voice EVERSE 8 and 12. Hey, we wouldn’t have jumped on getting these into our inventory if we didn’t think they were the best thing we had seen in a long while.

We have a local seaplane company here that just started testing a battery powered float plane for use on regular trips around the nearby islands. A battery-powered seaplane! There’s battery powered cars, bikes, lawn tools, heck, there’s even battery powered battery chargers! Perhaps you’ve heard of a pace-maker? You guessed it…battery powered.
In our little world of AV there are battery powered lights, cameras, speakers and laptops. So when we learned about the power and convenience of Jackery power supplied we jumped at the opportunity to offer this to our clients. Yes, you can run your event, wedding, press conference, video shoot or whatever else off batteries! Just like the float plane guys! But with the Jackery system you don’t have to use battery powered gear! You just plug in like you would a wall socket and away you go. Imagine a gas generator, that is turned off and silent, but still outputting 1000wH. That’s what this is! Amazing! As an example of how much and how long and how easy: A press conference with a couple speakers, couple mics, couple lights will run for over 6 hours. Even longer if you add the solar panel on a sunny day. And seriously, who wants a Press conference that lasts longer than six hours. Oh the horrors!

We’ve long been proponents of using teleprompters to ensure the message intended is the message sent at important corporate events. That doesn’t mean we aren’t huge fans of off-promoter, rogue and career-limiting on-stage rants. We just feel there is a time and place for everything, and when you want to keep it on the rails, our teleprompters and teleprompter operators are at your service. Our most recent stroke of brilliance has been bringing on-camera teleprompters in. Now, these aren’t your grandkids’ iPad handheld versions. These are the serious studio editions of some very powerful tools. Our 17” teleprompters are big enough for even your most short-sighted CEO, or long-sighted college grad. But small and portable enough to be taken on location to even the most remote places. Combine with our Jackery battery power system and the possibilities are endless. We’ve had nothing but compliments on these gems from some of the most discerning and unexpected people. Important people, wearing suits and fancy stuff like that! Come check them out!

Our little AV company has been growing. In fact, anyone who has seen Little Shop of Horrors might have an idea of how fast it feels like it’s growing sometimes! One of the cool side effects of our growth has been more and more travel both our techs and our gear.
With the systems we have in place it really doesn’t matter if your show is in Tahsis or Tallahassee. It gets packed up in our shop like it’s intended to be unpacked at the show locale. That way we never overlook gear, or spend extra time trying to figure out how A attaches to B. And that means our techs have more time to make your show look and sound as amazing as we can possibly make it!

We’ve always had great lighting solutions in our Rentals arsenal. And what does McMedia like to do when we have something great? We like to make it greater! So, long story short, (or great story greater) we have greater lighting solutions in our Rentals arsenal. Wanna know how? I bet you do…
Among our newest additions are the Chauvet SlimBank RGBA LED and ColorBand LED ILS bars. What really stands out to us is how versatile both of these systems are. Both can be run by traditional DMX and ILS, and the ColorBands can be run via Bluetooth on your phone or iPad. This Bluetooth system is so easy to get going, even our least millennial tech here was successful in making seizure-inducing light shows within seconds. (He will be OK, don’t worry).
And the other best part of these systems? They have ALL the colours. Yes, ALL of them! Except gold. Gold is a metal, not a colour. So, lights can’t make gold. We know gold is a Crayon colour. But you can’t light your show using crayons. You use lights to light your show. And lights can’t make gold. So, if you want to make your great show greater than gold, come by our rentals desk and grab these kits. See what we did there?

New 100’x10’ screen
McMedia has forever (well, since 1986) been a company of screens. Big screens, little screens, square screens, round screens, multi screens, horizontal screens, vertical screens, projection screens, TV screens. Heck, we probably even have some bug screens around here somewhere! To be honest though, over time, and due to popular demand, we have become experts in big screens. Really big screens. Our 7’x21’ quickly became 10’x30’. Which in turn became a 16’x60’. Yeah, big eh??
Well now our biggest screen is a 10’x60’. Wait, you say, 10’x60’ isn’t bigger than 16’x60’! Well it is when you combine our with our two 10’x20’ side screens to create a massive 10’x100’ projection screen.
Are all these numbers making you dizzy? Why don’t you check out the photos of this beauty in use! The creative possibilities on a screen of this size and aspect ratio are endless, and sure to make your audience dizzy with excitement. Also, want to know a little secret? We have more large screens coming in a multitude of ratios and sizes. Bigger, you ask? Well, you’ll have to wait and see!
