tv show from your past (we have movies dating back to the early 1900's), come check out our selection. Ask our staff and we'll see if we can get it in - we love suggestions! Our staff are all movie lovers themselves and their tastes covers all genres. There's no such thing as a guilty pleasure or movie snobbery here.

Today's unexpected treat comes from a suggestion by a younger coworker.

2002 Disney movies were not on my radar at the time, and that's a shame because The Country Bears movie is a fluffy delight.

It has the weird kooky energy of 70s live action movie Disney film, while the plot is basically a G-rated version of the Blues Brothers.

The best part?? I had assumed (wrongly) for years that the bears were some crappy CGI. Not at all! People in suits!!
..and a well under 90 minute runtime

Just saw a matinee of the new Spielberg film "Disclosure Day" - I thought it was fantastic, like "Close Encounters" mixed with a 70s conspiracy thriller.

Part of my enjoyment was, I'm sure, due to avoiding ALL pre release hype and interviews. I didn't even watch the trailer! Spielberg + aliens was enough for me.

We are bombarded with pre-release hype for everything with trailers, cast interviews, YouTube features, etc.
It's all TOO MUCH!
Going into a movie "cold" is a wonderful experience, like cracking open an unknown book from your favourite author.

I'd give the film an 8 out of 10...your mileage may vary...but I recommend it!

I love films from the 1930s. And I love a good swashbuckler. This take on the Scarlet Pimpernell from 1934 is one of my favourites...but sadly hard to see as for years the only versions available in North America were *horrible* garbage public domain copies which were almost impossible to watch and enjoy.

But now there's this. A legit free streaming version on YouTube that looks fantastic!
I can finally direct people to this wonderful gem.
