I think most of our friends know my son’s strong and inspirational story by now, but for those who don’t here is a “short” version of it:
In a period of two years, Victor went from having a very healthy and active life of a four-year-old to living a routine of endless medical appointments and exams, huge amounts of medications and uncontrollable seizures.
After these long two years, we got the diagnosis of a rare neurological syndrome called . It affects 2.4 kids in 10 million/year and it’s usually characterized by unilateral brain inflammation, frequent and severe seizures, along with other symptoms behaviour. Victor had a hemispherectomy 15 months ago, two surgeries totalling 50 hours, his movement, vision, hearing, speech and behavior were affected. But today he is our walking miracle! Literally!!
He is the strongest, most resilient and compassionate I know!
Thanks to the most amazing neurosurgeon and CHU Sainte-Justine Department! We want to pay it forward and we need your help! Come roll with us and help other families get their lives back!!
