A huge thank you from the team at Best Western Plus Walkerton to Marvin, Angela, and the Freiburger family for helping us prepare tonight’s Walkerton Homecoming Dinner for 620 people!

Their historic 1895 steam engine helped cook the corn and potatoes, making for a one-of-a-kind experience. 🥔🌽

Our General Manager, Andrew, shared:
“In my 37 years in the hotel and restaurant business, I have never cooked corn and potatoes this way.”

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our amazing volunteers, partners, and community members. What a fantastic evening! 🎉

🌟Spotlight Saturday - Local Business Feature - Cody's Egg Shack 🥚✨

This week's spotlight shines on one of Brockton's most inspiring local businesses: Cody's Egg Shack

What began in 2023 with a few chickens and a simple idea has grown into a thriving community-focused business. When Cody's parents introduced chickens to see if farming might be a future passion, Cody quickly discovered a love for collecting fresh eggs.

As the flock grew, so did the supply, leading to a self-serve farm stand offering fresh, free-range eggs to the community. Then came a new idea: pickled eggs, and the rest is history!

Today, this local business is known not only for its farm-fresh products but also for its incredible commitment to supporting others. The storefront proudly features products from numerous local businesses, and they are passionate advocates for community charities, including local food banks. Most recently, they helped raise funds to purchase accessible trikes for local children.

What makes this business truly special is its inspiring story. Living with cerebral palsy, Cody openly shares the realities of facing daily challenges while focusing on what's possible rather than what's limiting. Cody's positive outlook and determination have become an inspiration to many throughout our community. If you're wondering what to try first, it's their famous pickled eggs! With nine unique flavors to choose from, it's no surprise they're the top seller.

One thing they're especially proud of is the overwhelming support they've received from the Brockton community. Time and time again, customers tell them how much they appreciate the story behind the business and its dedication to giving back.

💙 "The community has been beyond supportive of me and my business and I could never have been able to succeed like I have if not for the people that continue to show up and support everything I do. This is truly the very best community!!"

If you're visiting Brockton or looking to discover a local gem, be sure to stop by, stock up on some farm-fresh goodies, and support a business that's making a difference every day.
