More than half your wedding day can be spent getting ready. That deserves a space specifically laid out for that purpose, and our Bridal Studio at The Eddie delivers. With 3 make up stations, a sitting area, dinning table and two 3 piece bathrooms, The Bridal Studio gives you the spaces you need to prep for the big day, just steps from your ceremony and reception. The Bridal Studio also comes equipped with hairdryers, curling irons, sewing kits and other little things you may need on your wedding day, but don’t need the hassle of bringing with you. Fun facts about The Red Barn for your Thursday afternoon.
The barn, built over 150 years ago by the Oosterhout Family, has changed a lot since it was constructed, with several additions and modifications over the last century, including the conversation to an event barn!
To facilitate that conversion, extensive work was done to the foundation and structure of the barn, while preserving some of the most magical details, like the open span 50’ ceiling height or that handsome cupola visible from Loyalist Parkway.
The previous owners also installed some cleaver touches to make the space more hospitable.
For example, although it appears the barn is open to the elements, it’s not. You’ve been tricked!
There is a vapour barrier between two sets of boards, allowing that perfect evening light to pour into the barn, giving the illusion the barn is open, while still allowing us to heat the barn, and keep the bugs at bay. One more feature that makes The Red Barn at The Eddie such a unique venue for weddings, events and conferences.

When we set out to decorate the Eddie, we wanted to create a space that felt elegant and sophisticated, yet warm and inviting. Country, but formal. The type of space polished enough for wedding photos and first looks, but cozy and comfortable enough for afternoon naps, or long evenings in deep conversation with close friends. 

A space that honours the beauty of this 160 year old home, and the magnificent original details that remain throughout, but still felt modern and current. 

Thank you Avenue Road for carrying such beautiful contemporary pieces to complete the space, and thank you Bri Anora for capturing these photos of the living room and reception, and of course thanks to those talented builders who worked here over 150 years ago.

When we got married 8 years ago today, we would never have guessed that that experience would have led us to The Eddie just a few years later. 

We got married on Mikes parents farm in Thornbury,  thinking a home wedding would be easier and maybe even cheaper. We came to understand very quickly,  we may have miscalculated! 

From bringing in outdoor lighting and portable toilets, to running a new power supply just before the wedding, all the savings we thought we might gain by getting married at home, were quickly eaten up by unexpected expenses. 

It was that experience that drew us to The Eddie when we first saw it. We dreamt of a venue where wedding couples could come and have everything they need, for any eventuality, all in one venue, without having to pay extra for each piece of mind.  

From robust generators to keep the bathrooms and main house running, to gas stoves to cook when the power fails, to umbrellas for drizzly days, and rain back up sites for your ceremony on really dreary ones, we aim to take the worry out of your wedding, by having what you need for a successful day, on site and ready to go.

Our wedding 8 years ago at our family home turned out beautifully,  and was one of the best days of our lives, but it sure would have been easier had The Eddie existed back then, but one things for sure, we wouldn’t have changed grooms and wouldn’t change the 8 years since. 😊 photo credits to Olive+Oak who captured our wedding day.
