Let's make some noise and welcome the summer!
(dollar stores are great to pick up decorations)
We meet at McCarthy Bay... sticking close to the shore line we tour, wave and cheer... no sleeping in!!! .. over to Buce Bay ... along the shore to Shipton... .. smooth sailing to Perth Road area and greet our cheering swimmers there...
The tour takes approx an hour or so.

If you are a resident of South Frontenac and would like to make a positive change in your community, consider writing a letter to your councilor about backyard chickens.
By doing so, we can help raise awareness and encourage our councilors to review the bylaw and make the necessary changes.
Remember, the more voices we have, the more impact we can make.
Let's work together to improve our community for everyone.

Many people have requested to send a letter to their South Frontenac councilor regarding the backyard chicken bylaw. To help with this, I have compiled some ideas for you to use or to create your own letter.
Below is a list of the SF Councillors and Mayor for your reference. One of the Councillors informed me that they are not aware of any bylaw infractions unless informed by a concerned resident.

If we can inform them about our desire for backyard chickens, they can look into the bylaw and make necessary changes sooner.

Hello! I live in South Frontenac, Ontario, and I have a little problem that I hope you can help me with. I was fined for keeping backyard chickens on my 2-acre lot, even though I thought I was within the law. The current bylaw is outdated and only allows for up to 10 hens on certain lots, which is not very inclusive.

Many residents like me want to keep backyard chickens for various reasons, like fresh eggs or simply as pets. It would be great if SF Council could revisit this issue and make a change that benefits everyone in our community. We need a bylaw that allows all residents to keep backyard chickens without fear of penalties or losing their pets.

Can you help me urge SF Council to make this change? Let's work together to find a solution that benefits everyone in our community. Thank you!

Backyard Chickens... our little pets.
South Frontenac council refused to budge ... well unless you have the $$$$ to change your zoning... (Costs $2000)
So time to ask them to change the Bylaws.
Many Townships have Backyard Chickens.... with a separate bylaw for what rules they would like.
Backyard Chickens are not the same as commercial chickens....
These are pets and well taken care of. They provide companionship, food (eggs), pest control, p**p is great for the garden, go to bed before dark, and make a lot less noise than most dogs (of course ours doesn't bark lol but your know what I mean), their egg song is a celebration and they want you to know, cameras will show that the predators have not increased but of course with any pet you must watch out for them/ including your dog and cat or rabbit ... and our cat finds them fascinating! she can often be found watching them.

North Frontenac has a great updated bylaw.
SF... started out ahead of the Backyard Chicken movement in 2011... but they wanted to 'keep it simple' ... and that is where the problem lies. The planning dept changed people and what was simple became difficult to interpret. Even the mayor and some councillors agreed.
So time to get some action going.
