I wanted this to come from the “Desk” of Carol Crick, but my desk is tucked away and snow is covering my office (iykyk). So from the couch it is.
Thank you. That does not feel like a big enough phrase for what I want to express, but it’s a start.
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly by so many local businesses and people in this community. We truly enjoyed working alongside you, and the relationships we built were genuine and meaningful. Your staff were wonderful to work with, and we are grateful for the professionalism, kindness, and friendship you extended to us. The Raceway, Bartle and Gibson, Co-op, Fizo, Carters, Heavenly Pups, Graze, Home Hardware, Floors Now, Saws and Ladders, JAK, iTower, the City of Wetaskiwin and the our fantastic neighbors The County of Wetaskiwin, sorry if I forgot some there was a lot. We truly appreciated your support in business, sponsorship or just being a cheerleader. Thank you for being so kind to not only us but our kids Rachel and James.
To our incredible customers—thank you for making Westview your home, whether it was for a weekend, a season, or many years. You became so much more than customers; you became family. We genuinely appreciate that even months apart, we could pick up with a text or message and reconnect, often on a deeply personal level. Those connections mean more than you may ever realize.
On a very personal note, thank you to everyone who loved our kids as if they were your own. They say it takes a village, and that is exactly what this place was for our family. I don’t think people truly realize the positive and lasting impact they have had on our lives and on our children. And just to be clear—it wasn’t that I didn’t want to see my kids during the day; it was that they were having the time of their lives. I always knew they were safe. Even on days I didn’t see them from the moment they woke up until dark, I could simply ask around and someone would say, “Oh yes, we’ve seen them “ and “ oh yes they have eaten”.
A7/8, A22, C21, and C22 and others - you made our kids’ summers for the past seven years. I don’t think it has fully sunk in yet how deeply you will all be missed.
A very special thank you to our work campers and Inn staff. Without you, this place simply would not have run as smoothly as it did. We honestly had the best time working alongside you and truly hope you had a great experience here as well—and that we didn’t work you too hard. Your dedication, care, and teamwork meant everything to us.
And to everyone else who passed through—sometimes for a short stay, sometimes every other year—you were our unprovoked cheerleaders. We are forever in awe of you and so incredibly thankful for the encouragement, kindness, and support you gave us.
Thank you again to everyone for treating us so kindly, and most importantly, for embracing us and our kids so fully.
We pray this is not goodbye, just a “see you later” and that someday we will meet again, sitting around a fire, sharing stories.
