Slowing down when the world gets fast
It’s been a couple of weeks since I last wrote.
The world has felt a little heavy lately, and sometimes the best response is to slow down and do something simple with your hands.
For me, that meant picking up my knitting again.
For the past few years most of my knitting has been limited to swatches... quick samples to show off yarn colours or textures. Age and overuse have caught up with my hands a bit, so longer projects haven't been something I've tackled very often.
But recently I cast on something new.
The project itself isn’t complicated, but it’s reminding me why I love knitting in the first place... the rhythm of it, the quiet progress, and the simple pleasure of watching beautiful yarn turn into something real. It's grounding.
Dew Drops Scarf knitting project in Royal Slipper yarn (colour Dusk)
The yarn I'm knitting with
The pattern is the Dew Drops Scarf by Lisa Hannes (maliha designs).
I’m knitting it with Royal Slipper yarn inthe colour Dusk, and it has been a lovely pattern to work on. It's interesting enough to keep my attention but not taxing on the hands.
Working with this yarn again has reminded me just how nice this base really is. It's a combination of Authentic, Dale, and some of the girls. I think it's the very best yarn I've ever created.
If you're curious, there are currently two colours left in Royal Slipper — Dusk and Asters. This pattern would also work in Lady Slipper and Dory Sock.

Planning a trip to PEI?
Spring is almost here, which means summer on Prince Edward Island isn’t too far off.
Around this time of year I start hearing from people who are planning their Island visits and asking what else they might want to see while they’re here.
Last summer I spent some time exploring a few places I hadn’t visited before - beaches, food stops, and a few quiet corners of the Island that really stood out to me.
I pulled a handful of those into a new blog this week in case you're looking for ideas while planning your trip.

And if your travels bring you to Western PEI this summer, consider booking a visit to Green Gable Alpacas.
With a bit of luck, we might become one of those Island memories for you too.
Cheers!!
