It’s happening!! Tonight’s the night! The official passing of the cheese knife! The Champagne celebration! Cultured’s next chapter! My heart is full to see my little dream continue in our community and in the care of such good people.
But I can’t leave without a proper Larra send-off!
Though owning the cheese shop is a passage in my life I won’t travel again, I can look back on this decade long journey and all that I’ve gained in community and friendships and feel immense gratitude and pride. Together we accomplished something truly remarkable.
I won’t get to be in this very same place again, we will pass in the street, meet at the cafe, perhaps finally share that walk, that bottle of wine over a home cooked meal (more likely a cheeseboard, knowing me) and have that afternoon tea we’ve never been able to manage to squeeze in. Looking forward to some slow moments in the months ahead.
To dispel any curiosity, I’m not going anywhere, the Yukon is my home, the place I found myself and my family. I don’t yet know where I’ll land, professionally, at the other side of this giant leap, yet somehow, I know, no matter where, it will be softly cushioned by the love and kindness I’ve been shown. Home sweet home.
I will be happy to see your smiling faces for the reopening days and share in the excitement around the shop. Afterwards, I may retreat for a little spell, enjoy some quiet reflection, family adventures, a little cheese abroad, clean my disastrous basement and maybe have a boss for a while. But I’ll be honest, I’ll miss you dearly and I will miss my daily access to cheese. Though it’s going to be fun to be a regular customer of my former business!
I would like to invite you to stay in touch, friends from the industry, customers, cheese lovers, local and afar, as my passion doesn’t end with the passing of the cheese knife. I will continue to draw inspiration from daily dairy and will be happy to share my discoveries and musings with you along the way!

Thank you, with all my heart, Larra
